Does the NINJA framework WORK? - Page 2

As you can see in my signature I have Roger’s review course. Right now I am still trudging through just watching the lectures and have about halfway to go.

I feel guilty that I am ONLY watching the videos since we’re being constantly told to watch the lecture then work the problems, re-work the problems, etc. etc. etc.I have not started anything else as of yet, so I just really need some positive reassurance that the NINJA order of things truly has worked for some others.

Another problem I’m having is with note taking. I do my best to write down little “fact nuggets” as we go but with Roger I almost feel like sometimes its best to just sit and listen to him and try to absorb rather than write down notes because once you write down one topic he is already 4 topics ahead. So while watching the videos I am following along in the book and reading things as he is talking about them/reading them.

After I am done with the videos I plan on re-writing the NINJA notes while going through the Roger CPA book for each section and writing down little things that maybe the NINJA notes do not include. Does this strategy sound useful at all or should I re-think my entire game plan?

Another problem I have is the constant feeling that I am “running out of time” even though my first exam (FAR) is not until the last week of February.

    In short: I’M FREAKING OUT.

Becker has 10 chapters, so you are saying that we should watch the 10- 4hour videos before taking notes, and then do the all the MC?

Did you have a chance to read the NINJA section of the Survival Guide, CR7?

chinchilled, my advice is to follow the way of the NINJA and keep moving.

The NINJA method works. I followed the method using BLITZ for my videos (I did not have the lengthy video lectures) and I passed 3 out of 4 tests.

For my AUD retake in Feb 14, I purchased video lectures and I will follow the NINJA Frame work completely.

I will still watch the BLITZ videos, but not for the initial “N” ail the videos. BLITZ videos are a great way to cover all of the topics in a couple of hours. I tell my self, “Time to BLITZ your brains out!” I Blitzed my brains out several times, but the most important times were right before rewriting the notes and the morning of the test.

Following the NINJA framework means you do not rewrite the notes until reading them 5 times. The NINJA method is different in that you do not stop and rewrite notes after individual chapters; If your notes are incomplete or if you are not initially grasping concepts….Relax and keep moving. Know that you will rewrite Jeff's notes and his are easy to follow. Let your guilt of not doing any multiple choice motivate you to watch those videos as fast as you can. Tap your feet like you have to pee because once that last video is over start the MCQs.

Taking notes is time consuming and can slow you down from watching the videos or blazing through the MCQ. While watching lectures, try scribbling notes without looking. The exercise of writing while observing is valuable, but you do not have the time to rewind and copy all of the slides word for word.

Taking notes over your wrong MC questions is very helpful, but do not rewrite the entire question, the multiple answers and the corresponding rationals. If you did not get a “fact nugget” then keep moving. I like to write down a term or two that I wish I knew better with a giant star. Then make a Star list after you rewrite Jeff's notes.

    Stay freaked out my friend.

I think this idea will work when you are on you final cram weeks. So a combination of the “old fashion way”, and the the ninja way for the final cram weeks will be ideal.

Any advice on how I should do the “focus frenzied” mcq's in becker since progress test doesn't show the answer until after i've completed the test. Should I go back and do the hw's section by section? sorry if this is a stupid question.

So the ninja way is only for cramming? Let me read his survival guide.
