    NINJA Question –

I am looking to get some opinions on if it is worth taking the time to copy the ninja notes down. I have them and do read them; I also have the audio and listen to it everyday to and from work (about an hour each way). I am taking the FAR exam on March 10 so I have a couple of weeks(last one for me hopefully). Has anyone re-wrote the Ninja notes and found it to be worth the time?

    Thanks

Yup it was the only thing I did differently for my third attempt at AUD and it raised my score 13 points.

YES! I wrote the Ninja Notes for all of my exams

FAR: 80 (Gleim, Ninja Notes, Ninja MCQs)
REG: 87 (Gleim, Ninja Notes, Ninja MCQs)
BEC: 87 (Gleim, Ninja Notes, Ninja MCQs)
    AUD: 8/27/16

I am going to start writing them today. How many times would be ideal to copy them down?

    Thanks

I don't re-write the notes, but I do read them every day until my test. In a week, I've read them cover to cover about 3 times (about 40 pages/day). I do write down the JE's or some of the complicated formulas and calculations, though.

But you have to do what's best for your Learning/retention style.

Yea, I think it's important to write down the formulas and specifics that the notes do not cover. The notes may only have 1 bullet point for an item that has exceptions or phase outs, etc.

I get distracted when I'm writing things down. It's easy to not put any thought into things when you're just copying them. So if you think you're good at attentively writing things and absorbing them then go for it.

If you get distracted like me, you should get ninja audio and read the notes along with the audio. It's basically the same thing. Make sure to write down notes since Jeff emphasizes important things that may not be so obviously important in the notes.

They say copying notes helps commit them to memory best but I don't handwrite anything ever so I retyped the AUD ninja notes ten pages a day and got through them three times.

I handwrite the NOTES. Takes a long ass time but in the end I think it paid off to increase my AUD score by 10 points. It really makes you think the entire time you are writing because you will notice how long it takes and it is boring as hell but who ever said studying to become a Certified Public Accountant was amusing. A year of your life to make a million more than a non-CPA is worth handwriting the notes. Grab a beer and after each page you write take a big swig or two. It calms the nerves.
