Hi Jeff!
I just spent the last 2 hours looking through your site and CPA materials, and I have to say that I am very impressed! It is really refreshing to here advice from a real human being who has recently taken the exam.
I started studying for my first part, FAR, about a month and a half ago (using Becker). After the first 2 weeks, I decided that I needed to change my study approach because I felt I wasn’t retaining the information. My new study technique involved reading the chapter and doing the corresponding MCQ after each part. I took FAR this past week and do not feel good about it (at all). For reference, I graduated Summa Cum Laude with two majors, so I believe I am intelligent enough for this exam. I took the time to read through the entire 600 page textbook, but I found it hard to cut through all the fluff and outline only the important key concepts. Also, reading the huge textbook made me really overwhelmed and caused me to mix up details from different topics.
Tomorrow, I will begin studying for AUD. My exam is scheduled for the beginning of August, so I have about 3 weeks to absorb all the information. I saw that you offer NINJA notes and I was wondering if rewriting the NINJA notes over and over can be a substitute for reading and outlining (or just a substitute for outlining) a huge book. I also plan to practice MCQ and TBS AFTER I finish rewriting and not in between sections (as you suggest).
Thanks for your help!
See you on the other side (hopefully!)
