    Hello all,

I have posted earlier about my obstacles of passing the AUD section the second time. But need your inputs as I want to make decision with purchase of review material.

Currently I have Becker Self study review materials with Flash cards and Final Review,Wiley test bank.

My main area of struggle is SIMULATIONS. I really do not know how do I prepare them, especially the ones that are conceptual based eg:- Increase/decrease in control risk/inherent risk/detection risk. Segregation of duties like who should be responsible for Authority and custody/recordkeeping.

I am good at solving MCQ’s based on my Score report .But when it comes to SIM and when there are too many options to select from drop down menu,I really get confused and select wrong answers

I understand AUD with what I have read from Becker notes and lectures. But I feel I need deeper understanding in areas like Audit evidence and Internal control testing.

So anyone who has used ROGER for AUD ?? Should I go for Cram or the whole course for AUD?As Cram is just a quick revision..I thought of roger bcoz I liked the way he explains audit(youtube/free demo).

    or

Buy Ninja Notes and read the Wiley textbook as I have read on this forum that reading the Wiley textbook for Audit is really helpful??

Buying Roger would be costly for me($300-400) and Ninja & Wiley Textbook is within my budget, but I dont want to compromise..I missed audit both times by 2-3 points.

Please any inputs would be appreciated and help me making this decision.

    Hello,

I”m using 2011 Becker, and Wiley test bank, and the Ninja notes. I just retook audit last week and I think I passed but who knows. I think ninja notes if anything, since your right there . Simulations are also my weakness but I think they are fair. Reg sims? Well that's another story but i digress.

Also, get familiar with the AL tab on the Wiley test bank simulations. Good luck

I've used Roger & Wiley for my exams. I hope you're using the AL during the exam to solve the SIMS because I found many word for word in the AL.

I think once you go over segregation of duties for an afternoon or a couple hours, it should be pretty easy to understand who gets what and why. IE a receiving manager/department gets the receiving report.

    Thanks for replying @joserws6 & @ samdiegoCPA.

As far as AL for simulations for my first attempt I got word to word answers for 3 of my simulations and had to guess on other 3 as they were pretty conceptual and AL dint work for them and 1 research question which was tricky.

but in my second attempt all the simulations were so conceptual that I was unable to find answers for them in AL and I had 2 research questions.

I do understand segregation of duties and Inherent risk/detection risk, but somehow when they come in the form of simulations I cannot answer them accurately.

I want to know those subjects with adequate examples and relate it with real life scenarios.I dont have any work experience but I think that's not the problem here.

Sorry it took me a bit to respond. Saw you'd asked me to last night, but wasn't able to till today.

Of the review programs that I have seen samples from, I like Roger's more than the others, but haven't used it. However, I have used the Wiley book, and am a big fan. Every page you read is about helping you understand the concepts needed to pass the exam, rather than having anything devoted to memorizing mnemonics. So, I'd suggest Wiley. If I remember, though, Roger's uses Wiley's books, so you could get Roger lectures and use them in conjunction with Wiley if you wanted. However, if you're going for having the info to pass without breaking the bank, I feel confident that the Wiley book can take care of you. Ninja notes…that's more of a person-by-person thing. They weren't so useful for me, but if you think they'd help you, go for it. Roger's probably would do everything that you need, too, but Wiley is cheaper…so go with what you think is best.

@ Lilla thanks for replying ..really appreciate πŸ™‚

I want to try Roger Lectures but they have this whole bundle where you get wiley testbank and all which I already have..Wish they had just lectures that way It could save sm $$. Ninja notes I saw them in demo version and they are good kind of condensed version, have not used them earlier so not sure how it will help me.

My main problem is Simulations coz miss AUD both times by small margin :(:(

I have Audit exam in nov end bcoz right now preparing for BEC, but want to make decision abt audit study materials..so working out my option.

I would also buy Sims from CPA review for free esp for Audit. It only costs $9.99. The questions are a great reflection to whats actually being tested in the exam. It does cover IR, CR, DR in detail.

I am thinking to buy Ninja 10 point combo lite instead of just buying the notes so that can hear audio in my spare time when I am just laying around and doing nothing …I wanted to go for Roger but I just have difficulty in some areas like i mentioned so spending so much $$ is not in my budget.

Will read Wiley TB and work hard..I hope this time around things click..Will practice MCQ on Wiley testbank…Will plan to buy Sims from CPA reviewfor free..

Preparing for BEC but still my heart is sunk bcoz of AUD second time failure πŸ™

Thanks for replying guys..If this forum was not around I would have really been lost in this CPA journey…

    Good Luck
