Any Success using the NINJA Approach for FAR?

    Hi All,

I am possibly on my last exam, and FAR is obviously the most biggest part. I am really not sure that the Becker way will be the most beneficial for me and how I retain information. My fear is forgetting everything I learned in the beginning. With all the other sections, I was able to go through the homework between 4-6 times, I’m sure with FAR that won’t be possible in the time I have allocated.

My exam is currently scheduled for August 12th, but I plan on changing it to July 19th. Based on my schedule, I will have June 20- July14 to do multiple choice questions. Then the following 4 days to review my weak areas.

Do you all feel this is doable? I would REALLY APPRECIATE your thoughts.

I also put in about 28-30 hours a week (I don’t have much of a life)!

    Thanks for any feedback!

Have you already been through the material? It sounds like you have and you are ready to start working on MCQ's. If this is the case, then I would say July 19th is doable.

I personally spent about 4 months on FAR, and with no job, that was way too much time. I think I could have cut that down to about 3 months. I think a month for MCQ's is reasonable if you are putting in 28-30 hours per week.

I think it's doable. I am taking mine the first week of July. I am using yaeger for Far, I don't know about becker. I would get the ninja products if you don't have them already. The key to far I am finding is pace. You have to pace yourself, learn the concepts thoroughly, and don't try to memorize everything. Your mind will explode if you try to memorize too much. Again, for me pacing myself has been a big help to nixing the anxiety. It's a lot of material, but you don't have to have a nervous breakdown either.

    It begins with a 75

@tncincy…Pace yes so true and persistence I would add. I've gotten about 1/3 of the way through my CPAexcel material which is about 400 pages (of 1,200)…PLUS videos and flashcards and proficiency questions and past exam questions and simulations…and something in life took me off track…so I'm back in the saddle again…

To your question @TaRenee, I started a CPAexcel forum topic and the general consensus is that the Ninja approach is better (or at least a modified version) than CPAexcel….you get lost in the 239 “bite-size lessons” if you go through all the material (text, slides, video, proficiency questions, past exam and simultions)…and come out months later forgetting where you put your head.

I also personally finding Ninja helpful in two unexpected ways…I read Ninja notes first, and then read the CPAExcel material…Seems to give me the branches to hang the leaves…and then I read the Ninja notes again and it seems to trigger the memory of the deeper “fact-nuggets” as Jeff likes to coin it from CPAexcel materials…

@TaRenee…to maintain this rigorous schedule….you have to learn to say NO to everything else…put the blinders on…you can do it but you need to look down the track and all you see is your passing FAR CPA score…put it all over your walls, your computer, when you wake up..that is all you are thinking about…or care about for the time being…Life be damned..(You might want to pay your bills and take care of as much as you can right now because between now and July 19th…there is nothing else but study and pass the test)!. You are going to get through the FAR study and go in and round-kick it out of the park.

    Good luck everyone!

@Ta…my advice is do what you have been doing in the past…YOU already passed using that method, so don't risk screwing it up by trying something new! FAR is a lot of material but can be done easily in 8 weeks.

Just stay persistent with the studying and I am sure you will do fine!

    Good Luck!

You schedule is definitely doable. I studied for 3 months and it was too much. Think 2 would have been perfect. I didn't use the ninja method for FAR but wish I would have. It would have probably been easier for me to retain the info. I am using the Ninja method for AUD so we will see how it goes. Good luck! You've got this!

@tncincy and @clbrown23 … thank you so much for your feedback!!!! I really appreciate you taking time to respond!

I'm about to re schedule my exam now…. I'm going to Game 6 tomorrow night as a “treat” to myself before I have to give my life away to FAR on Sunday!
