    NINJA Question –

My BEC exam is tomorrow and I’m still hopeful about passing. I can use a little advice because at the moment I feel a little dazed and confused, and I am mildly worried that I am not prepared for the exam. The MCQ’s have been a rude awakening for me.

    Summary of testing history:

With the FAR exam, the first time I took it I watched most of the Roger lectures, read the book, took notes, and only did the questions in the book. I fell behind in my study schedule and I spent the last few days of review actually trying to cover consolidations, government, and non-profit. I drove to the prometric center feeling that I was driving to my doom. Then during the exam I felt like I battled through the questions and after I received my score of 73, I felt optimistic that I can pass it the second time around. The second time around, I studied about 3 weeks and and made sure that I covered government, non-profit, and other topics that I felt I needed to address. Again, I only took the Q’s from the book. If I had to guess, I’d say I probably did less than 250 q’s.

    Current studying for BEC:

Since my last exam in November, I’ve discovered the NINJA method and I have adopted it (or tried to). I watched the lectures and took a lot of notes. In the past 2 weeks, I’ve completed all of the questions from the Roger CRAM book, and I’ve re-written down my notes and this week I’ve been taking Ninja MCQ’s. However I’m getting beat up with the NINJA MCQ’s. My trending score is in the 60’s. Out of several 20 – 30 question tests that I’ve taken, I’ve only had a few of them that are passing.

I have taken BEC 2x, and the first time I studied for a little over one week, full-time. The review entailed watching all of the lectures, taking notes and making a ton of notecards. I just used the Roger materials, and I took a handful, maybe 50 or so, practice q’s. I scored a 74. The second time I barely studied, which you can see by my score of 66. I work full-time, so I’ve been studying for a little over a month, and I have dedicated time directly to taking the MCQ’s. I have taken 2 days off of work to study full time during those 2 days. I have a trending score of 63% and I have taken 332 questions, plus all of the Q’s in the Roger CRAM book.

Has anybody had any similar experiences to mine? Has anybody had low trends then passed? I’m trying to make sense of this experience.

I apologize for the long-winded question, but I feel unable to compress it at the moment, and I need to get back to cramming.

    Thank you.

ready or not, it is go time for you. you have knocked out a lot of material in your review so just walk in there and show it what you know. write down what you can on the card during that first 10 mins but keep an eye on the clock so you dont expire it. then start the exam. read the questions carefully and answer the question that is being asked.
stay calm. breathe. leave some time for WCs and knock it out to the best of your ability. good luck!

Validation here might help your confidence level but the truth is none of us really know. Try to stay confident because at this point you've done what you can do to prepare so let the thought on readiness go. Go into Prometric believing you can do this.

I think that validation MIGHT boost your confidence a little. The day before I took my test, I did 10 MCQs for good measure. I think I got 5/10. I just stopped and went out for a nice lunch by myself (I was working fulltime). I did NO MORE mcqs and I just reviewed the book at night. Take a break. But seriously, go review IT, COSO, and NPV.

You've done extremely well considering limited studying, I wish you the best of luck. Going forward I'd get more studying and definitely more MCQ so you can knock the last two out on the first try.
