    NINJA Question –

Welp, NASBA shows my advisory score as a 74. I really thought I nailed a 75 so I cannot believe I came that close and missed. I don’t know what would be worse – completely bombing it or missing by one point. Anyway…

I’m not sure where my weaknesses were yet since the Texas score has not yet posted. I used NINJA MCQ/ book/ notes/ audio. I will say that 3 weeks before my test we had to take a last minute trip to China to visit my terminally ill mother in law, so that put a huge damper in my studying time due to jet lag, spending days in the hospital, etc.

I do feel very confident in the NINJA material though. My NINJA MCQ stats before going in on test day were as follows:

    Average Trending Score: 76.17%

    Average Score: 77%

Total Time: 39 hours (although it was really closer to 55)

Any advice on my strategy? Or should I continue with my current strategy with NINJA MCQs and aim to bring up the score?

    Bump.

Also to add I'm planning to retake the test the 2nd or 3rd week of January – and curious if this is too soon?

I failed AUD too with a 70. While its kinda fresh im aiming to take it first week of January. 1 month isnt bad since you're not starting from scratch. Or im an idiot and you shouldnt listen to me…i dunno. I hate AUD.

Since you are so close to passing, I think it will be better to take it the first week of January. Your final review was not the best cause of the trip to China, but it seems that you know the material. Bottom line, I think you failed because your final review sucked.

What worked for me was getting through all of the ninja questions correctly atleast once. This will give you a trending score of 100. Then drill your weak areas and try to keep that 100. Ninja questions get harder the deeper you go. This strategy raised my score from a 72 to an 87

@DoOver – Should I reset my Ninja MCQ stats and start over that way?

I'm contemplating doing the same thing. I retained most if not all of the material because I just took the exam 2 weeks ago but I don't want to just “drill my weak areas” i'm going to work on everything like DoOver suggested and then after finishing all the MCQ I'll work on my weak areas at that point. I want to get to the point where I know why each choice is correct or incorrect so in essence I'll have the theory down behind the question. I used NINJA notes and MCQ a week and half before the exam (I just found the website, read the reviews, and decided to give it a try) previously using Becker Self Study. I think Becker gave me a good foundation but NINJA definitely helped fill in the gaps. I think this time I will use only NINJA for the retake maybe use Becker for additional MCQ and SIM practice.

audit is a process. before you hit reset, and i think you shoud, copy your detailed progress report into excel as a benchmark. start with ninja from beginning section by section with new questions. repeat w/in a section until you have seen them once. then redo the section with questions missed last time until you hit 100%. then pull in prior sections and do multiple review sets. then repeat the missed las time until you are back to 100% in all sections. wash, rinse, repeat. you are not blasting through them – you are reading the entire question and answer material. reading the full question is key and you have to read all the info that comes up with the answers. toward the end you will start recognizing questions – don't answer from memory – read all the info that comes up. once you have done all questions and and answered them correctly you will be trending 100% – at that point you can do a practice exam if you want. then you check your detailed progress report again and see your weak areas. start doing more questions in those areas and speed should begin to pick up through mastery of material not memorization. remember to review strong areas as you go.
this worked for me with the ninja book – i needed the book because i had not attempted audit before. it does align perfectly with ninja mcq if you want to try it. if i were doing a retake i would get the notes rather than go back full book again.
i am weary of posting advice for sims because i dont think anyone else actually does it but i can do so if you want me to. my way worked for me.

@txcpa my NINJA scores were about the same and I received a 72. This time I am aiming for 85%+ trending. I also plan to take the exam the first week of January, if I am at 85% trending.

Definitely reset and start over. Use the software to only see new questions or the ones you missed so your not wasting time. Good luck
