Any thoughts? I’m looking for low cost study solutions. I really decided Rogers for the course for me, but it would probably be 4 months before I could purchase, so thats a lot of lost time. I’ve narrowed now to the Gleim online course or purchasing yeager dvds off ebay. I have the becker and wiley test banks, so I’m looking for a more audiovisual review at this point. Thanks.

Caddygirl7–I used Yeager for AUD and BEC, I purchased them used from ebay for a fraction of the new price. I really liked the instructor (Gary B) for AUD. However, some candidates feel that he is boring, but for me he was very helpful. For instance, when he is going over the MC for reviews and compliation reports, he instructs that it is always an incorrect answer choice when the answer uses audit terms. And that piece of advice helped me alot come exam time.

The Yeager instructor for BEC is Cindy Simpson and she is very good although she speaks way too fast for me. I had to keep stopping the DVD and going back to re-listen. For BEC I also purchased Roger, and while a lot of candidates really like his instruction, I found that he was very confusing for variance analysis and to make matters worse, he writes on a white board showing how to solve these problems which would be great except that his handwriting is so poor that I could not read it at all. I finally gave up on him and have not purchased anything else from him. (FYI for variance analysis,I believe BECKER is the best and I had a 2010 Becker BEC book that I used for that). I used the Ninja notes for BEC. It took me along time to understand the cost accounting topics in the BEC exam (and in my mind I lump nearly all the computational problems into these categories although the AICPA has them broken down into more detailed categories)

Finally, I have now taken the entire live review class given in the Washington DC metro area by Ingram CPA review. Mark Ingram uses the WIley textbook and his own very extensive notes. He is very good. So for me I have lots of materials–borrowed, bought at a discount on ebay, and directly from Roger and Ingram for their review classes.

    AUD 8/04/11: 78
    BEC 1/9/12: 73, 4/04/12: 80
    FAR 10/25/12: 80
    REG 02/25/13: 79

It depends on how solid you already are: do you need a review course or a teaching course? I liked Yeager for teaching all the parts (some better than others, but overall at the right pace for me). I also use gleim test bank and wiley 2012 test bank to complement wiley book mcqs.

If the ebay material is too old, (and of course they say you have to destroy old material not sell) it won't help you with the 2012 or 2013 stuff.

I got a good discount through the Washington State CPA professional organization for Yeager, they have a code for students that gets the discount. Maybe your state has similar and you can be a student member if not already.

    Good luck!

I'm looking for more teaching than review. I have the 2011 becker, but no longer get updates. I stuggled with becker and never really got anywhere. I purchased gleim back in 2008 and did well with it, but family issues caused me to stop studying at that time. This time, i have to be smarter with my purchase and have less money.

try doing Yeager Far only, see if your state can get you a discount at the cpa society, look at their online demo, and here is another link they have to watch:

Cindy and Gary are stronger teachers overall, Phil is the namesake and falters for me in pensions, leases but better in other things. I still use the college accounting text to help me review those things.
