What score is a good score on the Gleim software? - Page 2

A month ago, I bought the Gleim software to practice for FAR, which I’m taking April 2nd. I studied the Wiley book like crazy and watched the Yaeger lectures and took lots of notes. I’m reviewing and studying like mad. I’m now taking a lot of practice questions on the Gleim software and I find them rather difficult. I started off getting around 60%, but lately I’ve been getting around 70-73%. I’m fighting to get to that 75 mark, but still, I would love to aim for a 90 or better on the actual CPA exam, not for bragging rights, but to ensure myself that I’ll pass. I’ve already failed enough times and I promised myself that I’m going to pass once and for all this year. So, I’m studying like there is no tomorrow and still can’t hit in the 80s or 90s on the Gleim questions.

So, my question is….what is considered a good score on the Gleim software? IMHO, these look like they’re much harder than the actual CPA exam because I don’t recall the CPA questions being this insane.

So, for those who used Gleim and passed FAR, how well were you doing on the Gleim questions and what did you get on the actual CPA exam?

CPAMan – you may find very few people who felt confident walking out of FAR. Most that I have seen here, including me, thought that the FAR exam was a nightmare. I might have actually teared up driving home.

I did not find much of a correlation between my perception of my performance and my actual performance on any of the exams.

    BEC - 10/18/2010 - 79
    FAR - 10/28/2010 - 82
    AUD - 11/04/2010 - 73; 02/18/2011 - 86 - IT'S OVER!!!!!!
    REG - 11/21/2010 - 83

I have used the Gleim prep software (NOT the books, I hate them) for all sections and I can assure you that out of Becker, Gleim and Wiley, Gleim's questions are the toughest. If you can score well without remembering the answers, you will definitely pass the exam easily. Gleim had a lot of IFRS stuff plus it closely mirrors the real thing.

For the most part I skip Gleim's publisher questions because some of them are ridiculous. Om average I would do from 150-210 questions per sitting to see how well I focus and endure.

bullandre- I'll let you know when I get my score in June. Everything is just a blur and I can't really tell if I passed or not. But since I prepared extremely well for this, it is unusual that I feel this way. I believe well-prepared = knowing you passed for sure. I do not know for sure if I passed. Heck, I may have screwed up big time on the questions since many of them required such intense calculations and I was really pressured for time. So, I don't know. Argh! The wait is killing me. Hurry up, nasba!!

I just walked out of Test Center and finished Far in Apr 1. I think the exam will be not so hard as I previously expected.I only used Yaeger and Wiley test bank as my study materials. Before the test date, I have finished 15 sets of stimulated test in 2011 Wiley Test Bank and get the score from 78%~87%. I would like to say the problems in the real exams were in the same difficulty level as Wiley's, at least I feel very relax and I finished my whole exam within 3 hours in confidence. Only few problems I could not make sure because of “my poor memorization”.

In next stage, I will use Gleim Mcs as my AUD supplementary for Yaeger, since I dont think the instructor(Gary?) teaches very well, who just keeps on skipping. So I have to read the book and make notes for each module before I start watching that video. I hope I could pass FAR and AUD in my first attempt in this window! I dont want to waste bunch of time on CPA exam. I need my normal life back! 🙂

I'm using Yaeger for AUD and I think Gary is fantastic. The is the first time I'm getting a clear understanding of the material. His lectures are dry, but I think Gary is excellent in emphasizing what's important and he is very good in explaining the material in simple terms. And he likes to repeat the important key points over and over so you don't forget it. Gary is excellent, IMHO.
