Re-taking REG, considering ditching Gleim

For the record, I was a fervent believer in Gleim. Gleim did me well on AUD and BEC (and maybe FAR but the jury’s still out).

But I BOMBED REG. Many things to blame, but the studying experience was so painful and unnecessary that I think it broke my spirit.

I bought Ninja Questions but never used them (I kept waiting until I was “done” with Gleim but I didn’t end up having the time).

Does anyone have any suggestions for me? Perhaps gloss over Gleim and use Ninja MCQ’s? The sheer idea of studying for REG again makes me nauseous…

I like the sentiment here where any retake is treated as a fully new study. I've felt that nausea – own it and wear it like your favorite pair of jeans. You define it – not the other way around. Enough of that 🙂

The MCQ will poke holes in your study and help fill in the gaps. I didn't use Ninja Notes for Reg but it could only be beneficial. If one bombed an exam – there were probably some key concepts that having a good starter set of notes would be beneficial.

Do you still have time left on Ninja MCQ?

This is what I would do – if you have time left – do a battery of 3, 30 question MCQ sessions. That will give you 90 MCQ which would be a pretty good distribution over the contents of the exam. Then study your weak areas. Take notes on every one you got wrong and every one where you got the right answer for the wrong reason!

Now you have data and a diagnostic. You can see what areas are weaker and stronger and decide what to do. I would not throw more money at the problem until more diagnostics done. I personally did 1200 MCQ for FAR in order to pass and Reg would be not far behind that.

To summarize – if deficit in content – get another program or revisit Gleim. Otherwise it sounds like a need to rehearse for the big show and MCQ (and sims!) will give you that.

I started out with GLEIM for taking FAR. It was so much information and the lectures were so incredibly painful to watch I hardly got anything out of them or got through them in time to practice enough MC. I switched to the Roger Cram course and the Ninja Multiple Choice and got my first PASS! Except now that I can't buy the Ninja MC separate for the rest of my exams (AUD and REG currently studying FAR with MC) I am going to have to completely reevaluate my study plan just when I got comfortable…

I would totally ditch Gleim though. I returned the package after my FAR experience and got my money back for the remainder of the materials.

    F – 69, Rematch OCT

    B – 72, 83

    A – In training

    R- In training

I had Gleim for Audit and REG as they were required for MBA classes I had and had a long expiration period.

For Audit, it did good for me and I combined them with Becker questions that a friend had from a pdf. It is how I went from a 72 to a 90. Didn't use Ninja on the pass attempt at all as it was expired.

For REG, Gleim was awful, way too detailed and will kill your spirits. I used Ninja for it and it is much more reflective on what you see on exam day and you will not be focused on learning all those tiny details that you see in Gleim.

I think Ninja seems to be the universal panacea for people like us who have had bad experiences with all or part of a review course. I haven't bought it yet but I am going to soon.
