Any tips on how to study for REG using Gleim. I’ve been skipping the lectures and powerpoints and just doing the mcq and sims after reading the chapter. Mainly because I’m on a time crunch and watching the lectures and powerpoints takes up a lot of time. I’ve been doing fine with this, but if any one else has any tips for someone working 40 hours I’d take em.

Any tips would be useful?

I read the chapters and watch the lectures (i.e. read subunit 1.1 watch lecture 1.1, read subunit 1.2 watch leture 1.2, etc). I'm done with that stage though and just hammering Ninja MCQs and reading Ninja Notes. I've heard of people being very successful doing MCQs as they go though so if that's working for you keep doing it.

Right, I don't do any MCQs at all until I'm done reading the book completely. For FAR I followed the suggested study outline to the point for probably the first 10-12 units. Then I switched to the method I'm using now and I feel I'm getting just as good of an understanding but being more efficient.

@Andy wow! I don't even know if I'd be able to do it exactly that way. I'd be too afraid. I'll keep it the way I'm doing for now, but if you have any tips on how to narrow down all this info or any mnemonics please let me know. Also, best of luck I really hope we get this!

I do it backward, MCQ's followed by the lectures. Or no lecture at all. I do every question in the Wiley Test Bank and look up stuff as I go along. THe first time through is time consuming. I spent a solid 8 hours today working through 60 MCQ's on Cost Accouting. I definitely can't pull that on the exam.

Anyway, after the initial run through on Wiley.,I switch test banks and start again.

@Crying, I am using GLEIM as well. My normal process is to hit the Audio Powerpoint while reviewing the knowledge transfer for each subunit 10.1, then do 1/4 for available MCQs for general idea what or how it is tested. Finished all subunits, hit all MCQ and do the M1 & M2 follow by Sim.

But, I am planning to switch to do Sim first right after all Subunit reading. The Sims will tell me alot of what I know and don't know and how it all related to each other. I am testing this as I got couple low score on 3 of the 11 sims in REG. I think this might tell me what to focus when I do 3 or 4 sets of 20 MCQs, and redo the Sim again to nail it the concept and all trick questions.

I've been getting errors on little questions like before/after/initial. Hopefully this will address my deficiency.

Like you, I work full time + 2 hours of commute each day, so I am definitely looking for all effective use of time as well.

Just finish Unit 11, planning to take REG on 2nd of week of May.

The videos and the powerpoints suck. I saw them for AUD and part of REG, then realized they're a waste. I used Gleim.

@Track, Dang, how are you studying and passing with 90+.

I am using GLEIM for REG right now, so, any insight on how you retained all the materials by test time is great appreciated if you can share that knowledge.

I failed FAR at 69. I will redo FAR around early July in Bay Area in CA as well.

Gleim throws in stuff you will never need. Like for REG they went over BK's for farmers and banks and that will never be on the test. The REG book is twice the size it needs to be.

The 3 times I failed I used Gleim only. The 3 times I passed I used Gleim and Ninja MCQ. I wanted to use Gleim and Ninja MCQ for FAR but ran out of time. I only did 15% of the MCQ. This time I am finishing the other 85% of the questions I didn't get to.

For REG finish Gleim then move on to MCQ. For AUD same thing but the Gleim SIM's for AUD were really good. The Ninja ones were not.

Gliem is freaking me out.

First, the book is in no logical order that I can tell. This might be because the law is ridiculouse, but it's still hard to understand what Gleim is referencing many times. I had to learn thing like the difference between USCs and CFRs in federal law to understand what Gleim was talking about sometimes. Sometimes I think I am studying the BAR exam! It may not be just Gliem though because I've read this same stuff for other review systems.

Second, many of the Gleim MCQs are so difficult It makes it hard to learn the important points because I'm trying to recall phase out numbers and unimportant stuff. I've never been good in my tax classes but REG is by far the most challenging exam for me. I think I am going to try what Andyred said to do just to bust through this crazy book!!

I just did my exam rehearsal on Gleim for REG and I got 67, which makes me slightly uneasy as my exam is six days away. (It's not completely bleak because, having gone over the exam, I realize I made some silly mistakes on the SIM, which cost me major points).

I do think Gleim hits you with a lot of unnecessary information, and the questions are ridiculously hard, but for audit and BEC, I don't think I encountered a topic Gleim hadn't covered so I'm just hoping that Gleim + Ninja will be enough for this coming Saturday.

I used Gleim for all parts and averaged an 87 across the board. I did all the MCQ, watched the videos, and asked the counselors any questions I had questions on. This was key for me. Do not be afraid to ask anything you do not know. That is what you are paying Gleim the big bucks for. I broke up my goals into mastering on subunit at a time. It will make you more comfortable and confident and give you impetus to move forward. This exam was one of the hardest things I have ever done. It was a huge mental game for me; you have to keep working at, keep believing, and overcome the frustrations and roadblocks that will present themselves to you. It's funny how when you are done you do not think about the exam hardly at all. However, it is such a blessing for it to be in the rear view mirror. Getting your last passing score is such a high!

@DLu I just finished Unit 11 yesterday. I'm following the Gleim review study outline except I am cutting out the videos and ppt. I listen to the audio while reading the book on my commute and at home and then I just dive into MCQ and learn as I go. I do EXTREMELY bad on the sims and after looking at the explanations I realize I'm making little mistakes in how I read the problem and screw up.

I'm going insane, but I hope that once I finally get though each study unit. Just tackling study sessions will help me out.

I'm trying to find a connection between all the information. Similarities and differences so that I can put it all into categories and hopefully make all this info less overwhelming, but I don't feel like I have the time for that.

We shall see!!!
