Anyone use the Gleim materials for FAR? If so, what are your impressions of these materials?

Well here I go bitching about Gleim again. Ha.

First some good things about Gleim so I don't just sound like a bitter hag… The content of their reviews is generally complete and easy enough to read. I do like their MCQ software.

Now the bad- Gleim does not offer any lectures, but rather “audio-visual presentations”, which is just a powerpoint read right from the book. It doesn't really explain concepts but does give you all the information you need relating to the concept. If you are someone that already has an understanding of the basic concepts, or have an easy time with that stuff it could work for you.

I could see using Gleim for REG or maybe AUD. I think FAR is to “concept heavy”, but thats my opinion.

It does seem like people that pass with Gleim pass by a good margin or not at all. I used it for my CMA and was frustrated because I had to supplement a lot with outside materials to really get some of the costing stuff. For me having someone standing in front of a white board walking me through something is key to understanding stuff though. I can absorb and remember things pretty easily that way.

    Good luck!!!

I have used Gleim book & MC question software exclusively for my review. It is not fun or exciting or interesting, but it is very thorough. So far it has served me well. It takes a lot of very focused studying to get through the book material and ALL of the multiple choice questions. Right now I am plowing through the AUD book, planning to take the test in a couple more weeks! Good luck!
