I am using Gleim to prepare for my exam Feb 26th. I had previously used Becker. Has anyone noticed the Gleim questions to be easier than the Becker questions? I am just not sure about the questions in Gleim.

    FAR 73 02/09 ??? 02/10 AUD 68 04/09 80 11/09 BEC 72 04/09 78 10/09 REG 80 05/09

As someone who passed all four parts using ONLY Gleim, I feel I should reply. I thought Gleim was awesome. In fact, I felt over-prepared for BEC. I liked the smaller units, and felt like I was making a great bit of progress as I was studying. In any study program, you're probably going to start remembering the answers to the MCs. The key is to keep reading them so that you are sure you understand the question, and not just know the answer.

Honestly, I used the book a lot less than I did the MCQ's (however, I did use the book for when I didn't have my laptop available and wanted to work through some questions). I read through the outlines, but found them so boring I was falling asleep half way through. I didn't take notes because notes did not help me. My strategy was this…read through the outlines sub section by sub section. After EACH sub section, I would do the MCQ's for that subsection until I got 100% on them. I did take notes on the MCQ's that I missed. I then repeated each sub section until I'd finished the unit. Once I finished the unit, I would redo all of the MCQ's to ensure I was getting at least a 90%. Then, I would do the sim for the unit. Once I finished the unit, I would do a random 20 question quiz of all the units I had previously studied to keep them fresh in my memory. After finishing all units, I'd read my MCQ notes, and do practice quizes until I achieved a 90% overall.

    Good luck!

    csin832,
Since you have used gleim to pass all parts can you give me your opinion on my studying. I've been studying for over a month now. I went through and read the whole book and did the software mcqs. Now I am starting from the beginning and reading each subunit and doing the mcqs in the book untill I get them all right. I then do 20 mcqs from the software and have been getting at least 80%. I have been through the first ten chapters and did a simulated test of 30 questions and got a 76% and reworked the ones I got wrong. I now plan on doing the same for the last 1/2 of the book and then take a 90 mcq final on the whole book. I am sitting on Feb 26th. Do you think this will suffice?

    FAR 73 02/09 ??? 02/10 AUD 68 04/09 80 11/09 BEC 72 04/09 78 10/09 REG 80 05/09

Sounds like you're on the right track. I would take advantage of the performance analysis on the software mcqs tho to figure out exactly where your weak spots are and do some more practice tests over just those subunits. In my opinion, you need to be making at least an 85 on the practice tests consistently. If you don't get at least an 80 on that final mcq set you're planning, I would suggest rescheduling and giving yourself a little more time. It's much better to reschedule than to go in and fail. I didn't mention that I passed all 4 parts on the first try. This method worked like a charm for me, but if I was not getting at least an 85 (I prefered having above a 90) on the mcq sets, I rescheduled to give myself some more time to concentrate on the trouble areas.

I have used Gleim for the three parts I have passed, AUD, BEC and FAR. When I did what they recommended I passed. For FAR, in addition to the system Gleim suggests, I also did the Sample Test at the end of studying the 20 study units. I got a 70.5 and freaked out. Took the next week and learned (partly from reading other material and partly from doing more MCQ) the areas I was weak in. The Test Prep software is worth exhausting. I did not see any of those questions on the exam but I did pass with a good score (87). Hope this helps.

I am schedule to take the BEC section 5/29/2010 and have not begun to study the materials. I have done finishing reading/listening to the lectures for Chapter 1. I will be doing the study questions this weekend.

Will I have time to prepare for the test and what would be the recommended hours to study a week?

Also, I have an old version of the BEC review.. do you think the materials for BEC has changed that much?

    Thanks for your help!

I'm using the Gleim system and have found it to be very beneficial… well I guess I'll be able to say that with more certainty once the scores come back. Anyway, I've found that I feel much more prepared after following the suggested steps, and can honestly say that I've seen very similar (if not identical questions) on the actual exam that are presented in Dr. Gleim's review.

The Outlines can become a little burdensome, but I totally feel like the self-study approach is worth it if you're dedicated enough to it. I prefer reading out of the books and making note cards from the questions in the books. Perhaps it's because I highlight every other word with my bright green Sharpie…

I would absolutely recommend Gleim to anyone. I've heard that name since my first accounting class…ever.

    AUD - 85; REG 81; BEC 85; FAR 57, 70

I used Gleim to finally passed AUD on my 3rd attempt. I actually only used the Test Prep MCQs.
