    Is Gleim really that bad of a review material? It is the only thing they offer at my firm and I just received the FAR section. I’ve only made it through the first study unit and it is kind of jumbled, but the multiple choice seem to straighten everything out. I know a few people at our firm have passed using it, but it just seems like it’s the one review material no one recommends.

    Miller, I purchased Gleim for AUD after failing AUD 2x.

    I used Yaeger and think it's a great review course for FAR, REG and BEC. But for AUD, Yaeger wasn't enough.

    I think Gleim is an excellent “supplement” for any review course.

    I did 1,783 supplemental MCQs from the Gleim Test Prep Software.

    If I passed AUD on my 3rd time, it will be because of Gleim….

    BEC=77, FAR=78, REG=73,74,80, AUD=70,69, 84 DONE!

    I agree with NJCPA2B. The Gleim MC testbank is a good supplement. I also purchased the yext book. If I have troble with a concept I will read the Gleim to see if they have a different way of explaining the concept. My primary study material is Becker.

    I would give it a shot and see how it turns out. Put in the time, work and re-work each question several times, and wish for the best. Good luck to you.

    I've used Gleim and only Gleim. I am not familiar with any other review course. I think the multiple choice questions are very true to the actual exam. The outlines (the entire text) are pretty dry, but that's the nature of the material, I think. It doesn't give many examples though, and doesn't put much into plain language and uses a lot of technical language – I say this as I am studying the law sections of REG and am having a hard time with it. Its a comprehensive text and I'm not sure what people think is so bad about it. I've passed BEC and AUD with Gleim – so far, so good.

    laschndr, you're doing well with Gleim. But you are right, the course is dry and uses alot of technical jargon especially in the AUD section.

    I don't think I would stand a chance to pass FAR and REG with Gleim though…….I need to hear and see lectures for FAR and REG.

    Again Gleim is not for everybody….

    I'd be interested in hearing about the style of other study materials out there, especially Becker and Yaeger. How's the text set up? What are the lectures like – are they videos? Someone lent me a set of Becker flash cards and I have barely touched them. They use a lot of mnemonics that I have a hard time remembering, which defeats the purpose. I do better remembering my own hand-written notes for things I am struggling with.

    NJCPA – I hope you passed AUD, then you will be totally done! That's so exciting. Keeping my fingers crossed for you. Are you expecting your score with this latest release?

    laschndr, I'm not familiar with Becker, but Yaeger has excellent videos lectures (DVDs) that explain complex concepts especially in REG and FAR, and then the instuctor goes over problems from the Wiley CPA Review book……

    I don't think I would've ever figure out certain topics just by reading the book….
