FAR using GLEIM – SIMs Comparable to exam?

I am preparing for the FAR exam. It will be my first time taking this exam. I have seen lots of stories about the SIMS from test takers on the new version. Everyone says lots of documents and insane SIMS. I have been using Gleim to study for it. I have used it for the other three and hopefully this will be my final exam (depends on score for BEC later this month). I felt the SIMS on the other three were comparable and helped me a lot of the exam, but based on what I have been reading I feel the SIMs on FAR may not be measuring up to the actual exam. I have done 14 chapters and done the SIMS multiple times in each. I think they are helping me, but most don’t have any supplemental documents to review and are pretty straightforward. My question is…. has anyone taken the new format that used Gleim and how did you feel the SIMS prepared you?

I think Gleim's SIMs will do a better job preparing you than any other review system. On the actual exam, I had a couple SIMs that didn't have supplemental documents – so I think it's safe to say that Gleim is pretty darn close.

Gleim prepared me well. Only thing about the sims on Gleim compared to the real exams is that the DRS on the real exam is a bit more lengthier. There is no enhanced sims to practice either. But overall, it works.

I really want to get GLEIM to practice the SIMs for FAR. Does anyone know how much that is?

I love all the SIMS on Gleim. They have atleast 15 different problems but I would guess there are closer to 25 for each chapter and in new version you can do as many times as you want. Each SIMS practice has 5 problems to complete of all variety on it. I like them I was just worried they weren't comparable after reading some post.

I think the Gleim test bank is about $1000 for all 4 sections.
They recently had a sale for 50% off all 4 sections for $495-ish.
I am not sure how much the test bank is per section, or if that is an option.

It's like $250 per section. Sometimes at around the close of the end of a testing quarter they will sell it just for whatever is left of the duration of the testing quarter for like $100. It's expensive, but well worth the investment IMO. Yes, they are pretty much still relevant.

It is worth $250 for the SIMs. I bought the entire bundle and have only used it to pass the other three exams. I never came across anything not in the material.

Hi, first of all, good luck with your studies! I sat for REG back in July and am currently preparing to for FAR in Q4 of this year. The SIMS in Gleim emulated the format of what I seen on exam day for REG. I watched this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XOkIRjQVunE on YouTube before I sat for REG and it really helped me know what to expect. The SIMS on Gleim will not disappoint you, they do a great job of preparing us for the exam!

I am in the same boat as you're, studying for FAR with Gleim and keep noticing the SIMs there are a little skinny and not laden with exhibits as what the real sims pack.

Have you taken FAR yet? If so, how did you find the exam's Sims? Lengthier? Comparable? Tougher than Gleim's?

I took AUD in Q3 and the real sims were much tougher and lengthier than Gleim's, so this may raise some concern.

    Thanks!

I tried Becker, Wiley and Ninja Sims but Gleim is better. However the actual exam is way over lengthier, tougher.

I studied FAR with just Gleim. The sims on the exam had many more exhibits but other than that they were comparable. The Gleim MCQ were far wordier and more complex. I don't think the exam MCQ were easier though, just less complex. The exam MCQ still tested very obscure topics so you need to know everything. I've been very impressed with Gleim. I think it prepares you very well.

My first attempt at an exam was Aug. 30th of this year, so I followed the advice here which pointed me towards Gleim SIMs. I had done Wiley SIMs (my primary review course), and can definitely say Gleim's SIMs are a better indication, however, aside from the DRS, they are not entirely representative of the actual exam SIMs, mainly due to the amount of documents/worksheets on the actual exam.

I had a little less than a week to review for FAR so I figured I'd just blast through GLEIM SIMs to tighten up my game. I did fairly well (did most of them, excluding a few I thought I wouldn't need to touch upon too much which worked out), but I think it led to an initial overconfidence regarding the SIMs come exam day, mainly because I would have ample time left over after completing the SIMs, so I thought “Great, I can use a little more time for MCQ on the actual test”, which wasn't true at all. The main difference was the size and number of documents the exam SIMs presented.

I used the Gleim test bank and Becker for my FAR prep (sat for exam 10/19). Contrary to most people I felt Gleim was actually easier than my sims for Becker. Most of my Gleim sims were overly simplified, but overall Gleim did well in preparing me for the exam. I will find out on the 19th if it was worth the extra money.

Best of luck on your exam!
