Are the Gleim questions in AUD harder or easier than the actual CPA exam questions? - Page 2

    I was going through the material in the Wiley book and was wracking my brain just to fully understand the concept. I was wracking my brain even more with the review questions in the book. They were really tricky and hard. A couple of days ago, I purchased the AUD Gleim CPA software so I can start practicing with more MC questions. I was very happy with the practice I got from it when I studied for the FAR exam. And since the questions in their FAR test bank were very challenging, I felt that they gave me good practice. However, I’ve done a couple of question sets on their AUD test bank and am surprised to say that they seem significantly easier than the questions I was practicing in the Wiley book. I’m getting mostly 80s on these practice sets. And believe me, I’ve always been a lousy Auditing student, but I’m finally nailing the concept with Yaeger’s review course. But it just puzzles me that the Wiley questions really challenged the heck out of me, but the Gleim questions are the opposite. When I was practicing with Gleim’s FAR questions, they were extremely tough, but so far, this doesn’t seem to be the case with their AUD questions.

    So tell me…..are these Gleim questions easier, hardier, or about the same as the actual exam questions?

    @Joeycramp,

    This testing window I am approaching things differently. Some of it was suggested to me by Jeff. He told me to watch all the videos and take notes, I also read each chapter and took notes from the book. Then go back and do the mcq's. I also take notes on the mcq's: notes on what I got wrong but then on what I got right if I felt it was an important thing I didn't want to miss. Then I would continue to do mcq's and reread my notes on the chapters and mcq's and read Becker notecards for reinforcement. Plus the notecards are so portable–yes, I bring them with me to spin class. crazy as it sounds, but I feel like if something sticks then it wasn't a waste of time. Basically, that is a condensed version. I will have to wait till end of June to tell you if it worked.

    Keep your chin up, we all get frustrated. It is hard to motivate and then to maintain it. It is summer and who wants to study? But then again, the studying is what keeps me going…..because if I pass I won't have to study. Then I can stop being my own private island and rejoin humanity. 🙂

    Best of luck to you.

    I watched all the Yaeger lectures and took extensive notes. Then I was doing MCQs on each module. Then after doing horribly, I went over each module one by one by reading over my notes over and over again. Then I did a set of MCQs on that module. 2 months later…. I’m now getting 80s on my Gleim and Wiley practice questions. Let’s hope that means I will score in the 80s on the real exam. I’m taking the exam this Saturday. I’m as ready as I’ll ever be!!

    @cpaman,

    You sound ready. I think you are going to go in there Saturday and kick it. I do think the reading of notes over and over is huge. I started doing that this window and it has made a difference in getting things to stick.

    Good luck to you!
