I am considering purchasing FAR section from Gleim. Has anyone used Gleim and did you like it? Any feedback is greatly appreciated.

I've used Gleim for CMA and CPA. So far, I've followed their steps and passed all the exams in the first sitting. It works for me. Your mileage may vary. I buy the premium system and work the program the lay out.

    B - 11/11/16
    A - 4/16/16 87!!
    R - 2/17/17
    F - 7/26/16 - Waiting for 8/23

I agree with the above. Gleim helped me pass three sections on the first try. Just waiting on the last score now. The lectures are a little dry, but the MCQs and simulations are very helpful.

Agree with the above posts. Gleim covers every topic in depth so there are no surprises on exam day.

Gleim looks good to me too. I have all four of the books (given to me as Review Copies) but no online access. I am using it to supplement Roger. I now almost wish I'd bought Gleim because I like their outline format. Roger usually doesn't do outlines, and for some topics you absolutely need them or the topic doesn't make sense. And…Gleim is cheap! I don't know why they are like half the price of Roger, and only 1/4 the price of Becker, but…. I'd go with it. I didn't go with it because I started talking to this lady from Roger who laid on a really smooth sales pitch and made it seem like it was the end-all-be-all of CPA review programs. And in a sense, she was right. The videos are good and the MCQs pretty much felt the same as those I had on FAR. Gleim's MCQ are very, very challenging as you will see. He doesn't give any easy ones!! But that's good because it taxes your brain and then I imagine the ones on the CPA exam look way easier than his.

That's what I like about Gleim. He breaks down each section into 20 subunits so it isn't as overwhelming. Yes his mcq are tough but like you said it makes the actual exam seem moderate.

I purchased Gleim's test bank for my REG retake. I'm not really a fan of the book, but their mcq's are much harder than the real exam and they have the toughest sims. I took REG yesterday and felt more prepared than last time, but still got a couple random sims that no review course could prepare you for. I feel like it could go either way, but it's out of my hands.

The one drawback of Gleim is that they get into too much detail and overload you with information to the point where you could lose the big picture and spend extra time learning things you don't need to know.

    AUD: 73, 81
    BEC: 71, retake 8/29

Thank you all for responding. I have read other reviews saying they liked how the sections were broke down into subunits. I think I will like that and hopefully will not feel as overwhelmed. I ordered the Premium FAR review and so far I like it.

I've been happy with Gleim. It got me through both FAR and AUD. As mentioned, the MCQ are great preparation, with phrasing very similar to what you'll see on the exam. The SIMs are almost identical to the exam presentation – meaning hard, vague and everything else we expect SIMS to be. Answer explanations are, for the most part, helpful. The book is detailed, which helps for some of the more complex calculations/concepts. Also, the customer service is great. The personal counselor is highly responsive.

I haven't been impressed with the lectures – they're basically an instructor reciting the book outline. The accounting expert feature isn't very helpful in my opinion, either. They won't address other elements of a question. Not deal breakers for me, though, as the other materials are great.

Keeping my fingers crossed it prepares me well for REG in Q2 2017. Good luck on FAR.

    FAR: 80 (10/28/2016)
    AUD: 85 (2/6/2017)
REG: DSIT (Dragon Slayer in Training) (5/2017)
BEC: DSIW (Dragon Slayer in Waiting) (7/2017)

As tough and as hard as Gleim may be, it is well worth it for a review course. Gleim was what got me to pass all 4 exams consecutively. I couldn't pass before that with 6 tries until other CPA's pointed out Gleim to me. Now i'm a believer of the course.

Will echo what everyone else has said especially @Re2Pect (pulling for you on the 8th!!!)- I purchased the test bank for my FAR re-re-take… I have found the questions and their detail to be VERY helpful…. there are somethings that there is way too much detail on (having taken the exam twice I can pinpoint those things)- but overall I am feeling much more prepared than before. We will see come test and score release day- but as of right now I am happy that I purchased it. Good luck!

and they ask me why I drink...

FAR- 61-next time I'll ask for lube instead of a calculator
REG-75- Never been so happy to see such a low grade
    BEC- 8/11
    AUD- 9/2

Thanks mckan514w! Trying to enjoy the week off and not think about all the questions and sims I probably got wrong lol. I couldn't tell if my questions were getting harder, but it might be because of the 4k Gleim one's I did that are more detailed and wordier than anything on the exam lol. Hopefully it will give us that extra boost we needed. I'm pulling for you too and will be checking for your score!
