Yaeger CPA Review vs Becker

    Hi everyone,

I used Becker back in 2012 for BEC and REG. My scores: BEC 73 – 68 REG 68. I AM NOT BLAMING BECKER. I did all the multiple choice required for BEC but did not do any of the final practice tests or additional MC questions. For REG, I only studied 5 of the 7 chapters. It is my own fault and I take full responsibility. However, I don’t think it is the right course for me. I signed up for the live classes which I am sure everyone knows that they just show the lectures and a professor goes through the limited (1-15 questions) per chapter with the class. They were a complete waste of time for me personally because it was really hard for me to concentrate 8 hours on the lectures only watching a DVD. Becker also uses numoerous tips for you to memorize. I do not have a good memory either so that has never worked for me. I usually need to do a summary of the summary of the summary for concepts to stick. I like the old school way of learning which is why Yeager sounds very interesting to me. I know passing the CPA is 100% on myself but any advice you guys can give me about using Yeager would be greatly appreciated!

    Thank you in advance!!!!!

I believe that Yaeger would be a good fit for your learning style. The instructors go over the materials and do MCQ to help reinforce the concepts they are teaching. You can also contact them if you are having trouble and they will help you. I have passed two sections with them so far.

I have had no complaints with Yaeger and have heard they do more teaching than Becker. The lectures get old after a while but they are important because they point out only the things you need to know in the Wiley book as well as explain concepts. My review advice: Watch each lecture in a particular module while highlighting/underlining everything mentioned during the video. When you get to the end of a module, go back and read through the highlighted/underlined material in the text, go over the related section of the handout, then go back and do all the suggested MCQs for that module and read ALL the solutions for both right and wrong answers. Then move to the next module and repeat. Once you get through all the videos, go back and reread the highlighted material from each module and redo the suggested MCQs and read the solutions again.

This has gotten me through 3 parts and hopefully the 4th next saturday. Good Luck

Thank you so much for your advice guys! Should I use more than 1 review course? Is it possible to do all Becker mandatory questions as well as supplemental as well as another review course? Becker is really expensive and since I did not finish all the required questions for the Becker promise, it would be so expensive to buy it again, in addition to Yeager. @Jeff, I do not have an iphone or ipad, can I still use your NINJA software?
