Would Becker (book only) Cut it for AUD?

Having taken FAR last week, it’s time to move on to studying for AUD.

I have access to a friend’s 2011 Becker book, but not the accompanying videos. So my question is, would the Becker book plus the Wiley online test bank be enough to do the trick? Or does Becker include information in the videos that’s not also in the book?

    Thanks for any input. 🙂

    FAR 2/23/2011 | 95
    AUD 4/15/2011 | 97
    BEC 5/25/2011 | 94
    REG 8/17/2011 | Fingers crossed

I took Auditing yesterday, I am honestly say that Wiley's 2011 Book was perfect for studying. I bought it for around 37 dollars online. I also had a 2010 Version of Bisk software for addtional questions but the Wiley book is what really prepared me, esp for the SIMS. I have never used Becker so I can't comment on that but for $37 bucks you can't go wrong with Wiley.

    Good luck

Has your friend already watched the videos and taken the notes from the lectures in the book? If so, you have the extra from the lectures. However, the instructor does say things over and over and over and over that are important, that i think you only really get from the lectures. I agree with bakerslky though, the Wiley book that you can get on Amazon for like $35 is really good. I got it after I went through Becker and I used it to clarify areas where I felt confused, and I also used it for the extra MCQ. I think it was definitely worth the money I spent for it.

    CurseAUD: There are no notes.

Thank you both for your input. I used Wiley (with nothing else) for FAR. I feel like it covered all the material, but perhaps I could have moved more quickly if I had used a different program. Getting through the whole thing took me *forever.*

In any case, I'll certainly be using the Wiley test bank again, as it's great to have access to tons of MCQs and Sims. And I may end up picking up the Wiley AUD book as well.

Anyone else have experience using Becker sans-lecture to prepare?

I studied using Becker 2011.. and I did NOT watch the videos. I had already watched the 2010 videos last year.

I thought reading the book was more than adequate.. however the MCQ and Sims in the Becker software would be highly recommended.

    Good Luck 🙂

I passed AUD and BEC in 2010 and have taken REG in 2011 using only the Becker books and MCQs. After leaving the REG exam I did not feel very good about how I performed, so I went ahead and purchased the official Becker program for FAR which is what I feel my weakest area was.

After leaving REG feeling like a failure I realized that the money would be well spent if I did not have to re-take a section. I spent way to much time away from my family and friends, and it would kill me to fail a section because I wanted to save a few dollars. Even though it is possible to pass using only the books, why risk spending five or six weeks of your valuable time? Of course if you supplement with Wiley you may be OK.

    Just my thoughts.

Just read the book and do as many practices Sims and MC questions as you possibly can. You will do fine with those

    BEC - 86
    AUD - 94
    REG - 88
    FAR - 89

Just another comment: Do not forget about the simulations, they are now 40% of your grade. The Becker books and MCQs do not necessarily prepare you for the simulations.

    BEC 84 Q4 2010

Pretty Funny Update to this topic. For AUD, BEC, and REG I used the old 2009 version of Becker and passed using only the textbooks. I got scared leaving my REG exam and decided I did not want to go it alone for FAR and purchased out of my own pocket Becker review for FAR and FAILED with a 72. I completed all of the HW and lectures in Becker, but I will admit I did the review in only 4.5 weeks, although it was an intense study session.
