    Becker Question –

I am taking FAR in July-10; I am referring Backer materials, I wanted to know which chapters are more important in terms of exam point of view. I know everything from material is really heavy but if you think to give weightage to the topics in terms of frequency of questions appear in the exam that will be helpful!!!

Sadly, everything was hit. I can't think of a single topic that just got pounded moreso than anything else. I used Becker and did all the lectures and worked the MC questions (including supplemental) multiple times and came out with a 94. There is a ton of info and it is a ton of work, but it covered what I needed to know.

Having taken it twice, I can tell you on one exam, I got pounded with multiple questions on a topic and then didn't even see it on the next exam. You really have to study it all. There are topics that Becker barely touches that are simulations. I think the examiners purposely put those uncovered Becker topics on there.

Like Dale writes, you just have to keep practicing the questions.

Most everything is covered… here is a little advice from studying Becker and sitting for the exam (only once in April).

    >Bonds– always look at the DATES, you will be able to cut your choices in half by this usually, know how to make an ammort. sched.

    >If you don't have time, don't go into how OCI goes into DTAs and DTLs, it is in my opinion the most complicated subject Becker covers and the exam will more than likely not go into those specifics.

    >Know the rules behind recognizing gains on transactions w/o commercial substance when boot is received… saw multiple questions on this in the difficult MCs in sections 2 and 3.

    >Know some ratios (becker doesn't really cover this much), ie Inv. turnover and A/R turnover.

Other than that, all exams are different, do everything Becker asks and you will be prepared.

Ratios are in the Appendix of some of the Becker Chapters.

But I wouldn't look at this exam at how can I study only certain areas and still come out okay. You need to know it all unfortunately. Push back your test date if you must.
