Was wondering if Becker was worth worth roughly an extra $1,200 over Yaeger?

I’m new on to this board with recently finishing up with school at the University of Nebraska at Omaha. I was wondering what seems to be the best CPA review company out there. Is Becker ($3,000) really worth roughly an extra $1,200 over Yaeger ($1,800) and $2,000 over Gleim ($1,000) CPA review for all 4 parts? I was also wondering if it was possible to get all 4 parts done in a 4 month period without having to work (May through the end of August)? So another words I could dedicate all my time to studying for the CPA exam! Also, do some people take two exams in one testing window? Even going into a great field such as accounting it seems to be difficult at finding a job without any experience. I know passing the CPA exam will just give me my certificate and not a license but I’m hoping that will make me a lot more marketable at finding a job.

    Thank You so much!

Yaeger is good – I passed with it…A LOT of people have switched to it and passed.

I used Becker and just passed my last exam on this quarter. Becker is a very good review program, they have really good flashcards and the passmaster software includes videos, mcqs and simulations. That being said, I bought Becker for $1400, as I live in PR and we get a different price : D Also, a lot of candidates love Yaeger's old school method of teaching, in contrast of Becker's modern presentation and software. Also, take a look into Roger, which should be considered a strong competitor in the CPA Review market. It all depends on your learning style, your budget but in the end, it's just the effort and dedication you put into the CPA exam. You have to commit 100% of your mind to this exam and nothing else.

Becker is fantastic. Look for discounts through your state CPA society (PICPA gives a nice discount).

That being said, whatever material helps you pass is fantastic, whether it is Yaeger or Becker.

Yes – you can take all 4 parts in one window if you aren't working.

As for what is better and how many $ better, I don't know – I've really only used Gleim, and it worked for me.

And I didn't use all of their stuff, just the books and the MCQ software (which probably in total costs about $250 for all 4 sections). I had the audio CDs, but I would just space out and start thinking about something else within 5 minutes.

It completely depends on how you best learn this type of material.

    FAR - 10/28/2010 - 82
    AUD - 11/04/2010 - 73; 02/18/2011 - 86 - IT'S OVER!!!!!!
    REG - 11/21/2010 - 83

Thank you so much for all your wonderful advice! I will probably either end up going with Becker or Yaeger and maybe not buy the whole package that includes the audio cds, etc.

Hi Husker! I just wanted to weigh in, and let you know that I tried both, and would recommend Yaeger if you want a ‘teaching course' which shows you the material inside and out and gets you involved in the studying process, and Becker if you just need a ‘review course'. I did Becker for all 4, and after passing 2 and failing 2, I went to Yaeger for the ones I failed and wish that that's what I had started with. That being said, I needed someone to teach me the material inside and out and not just tell me what chapters to read.

Good luck, I'm done now and I can tell you it feels great!
