I signed up for the Becker online class and was planning on taking the audit section about a month and a half ago. But i have still yet to receive my NTS… it actually says this “Your application has been forwarded to your State Coordinator for additional review. You will be notified if any additional documentation is required.” if anyone is familiar with what that means that would be helpful. Anyways the next section which i believe is regulation is in its 3rd week of class but i have heard from some people not to start it because you dont want to be learning two sections at once, however the becker promise you need to have viewed all the lectures and do the all the hw and then if you fail you get a discounted price for new material by a certain date. I have done all of the audit lectures and hw but i have been waiting to pick a test date and then plan on giving 2 solid weeks of dedication to studying for it and really learning the material. If anyone has any suggestions as to whether i should start really studying for audit although i dont know my test date? if i should start the regulation portion of becker? What my NTS status means?

I would call your board and check on it….I kept getting the run around on my applications….and it sat on one of the employees desk for six weeks.

I finally emailed through the NASBA website and got a higher up, who got it processed in 1 day.

I was actually pretty impressed of the way it was handled AFTER I lost my mind waiting.

Unsure on the other.

@bentleygirl – I would definitely call your state and check in with them. I know I had that message for quite sometime but it was during the flooding in Tennessee/Kentucky. I believe they said it should take normally about 5 business days once you got that message but it seems like you have had it a lot longer. Also make sure that if you just graduated that you get official transcripts sent over if you applied before you had these.

I would start the becker's as well, you do have a 1 month grace period if you are doing the online courses from after it ends to get everything completed for the promise. I started my becker's way back in March and only started sitting in July for exams. At the moment I just finished the Audit class with becker's am sitting for BEC tomorrow and also in the 3rd week of regulation but am letting the regulation slide for the week and last to concentrate on BEC. I hope everything gets cleared up for you!

Is it confusing to study for two parts at the same time?

@Tableleg- It isn't that bad since I get to take a break from say BEC for a day to do some REG, I usually try and plow throw 1/2 a section in one day and then shut it off. It seems to be working okay, hopefully when I get my results back they show this. 🙂

Just my 2 cents…i took becker live classes back in Jan of 2009 (didn't receive my funding to pay for the actual exam until this year….boy is our government slow!) anyhoo. Needless to say i had completed all the classes before I got the 823 to pay NASBA. So I was like screw it, I am gonna watch the dvd's and do the homework again. (I didnt feel the need to watch the dvd's while i was in the live class) And I was actually mad that I didnt choose self study. I learned more from the dvd's and some things i retained better because of the jabs that olinto and gearty make at each other. Sooo what i am saying is i liked the dvd's better.

Also, fooling around with the government made my becker license expire and here it is and I am not done with my exams…so i had to get “creative” so i could still use the becker software. So i would keep that in consideration and call and bug the crap out of your state. You dont want becker to expire and then have to pay a gazillion dollars on top of the trillion dollars already paid to them.

bentleygirl, did you receive your NTS yet?

My application status just changed to “forwarded to your State Coordinator for additional review” and when I called CPA Exam Services in Tennessee they told me it could take up to another 2 weeks to send out the NTS. Hopefully it gets approved soon so I can take the exam by the end of the month.

So how long did it actually take to receive the NTS after getting that message? I am in the same position and would like to know roughly how long it would take. Im pushing so hard to get one part done before the window closes.
