Using Becker for FAR is sufficient?

I have my work paying for Becker. I’ve used it for 2 chapters so far. I feel they do a good job in helping me memorizing items, but they cut out too much pieces here and there. With 2 months before taking the exam, I have a little bit of doubt about using this material. Has anybody taking the exam feel like that’s enough for preparing the exam? or I should also using Wiley book to complement it?(Would I get more confused by using two different materials?)

There is no doubt that FAR has an extraordinarily large amount of topics in it. That being said, there is no possible way for the CPA exam to test you on everything presented. I felt overwhelmed but I learned how to do all the important topics that Becker focuses on. Try to notice trends on what they are focusing their MCQs on and really know the concepts. It was the first exam I took so I was nervous, and left feeling I did decently on MCQs and horrible on the Sims. I ended up getting an 89 and can honestly say that there were maybe 1 or 2 questions I felt I wasn't “prepared” for but I believe Becker's review for FAR is plenty sufficient. I have never used anything other than Becker for the exams I have taken so I cannot specifically attest to them. I will say, however, that I would focus on the topics Becker says to learn. You probably won't even have enough time to master the topics they give you so I wouldn't add even MORE materials to that mix. Good luck!

Anyway, Becker is certainly sufficient for any of the sections. As is well-known when using Becker, because it is such a condensed course, you really need to know EVERYTHING in the book. I mean, not line by line, but the topics they cover in detail, you need to know them in detail also. For my larning style, it worked well. I was afraid with some of the other review courses, I would try to cram too much into my brain and then forget half of it entirely.

I passed FAR on the first attempt, but as you can see, it was my lowest score. II also didn't study as much as I did with the rest of them, though. Do the MCQs over and over, and you'll get it. Can't hurt to supplement with NINJA notes/audio, either. But for a complete review course, I do think Becker is wonderful.

    BEC: (4/2012) 88
    AUD: (5/2012) 91
    REG: (8/2012) 82
    FAR: (1/2013) 78 ๐Ÿ™‚

My signature seems to have disappeared (or at least the computer I'm on doesn't show it). I got a 77 or 78 on FAR. Can't remember.

Sigs were nixed during score release because of the load – I just asked IT ninja if I can turn them back on.
