    I am going through Becker FAR 2 for the first time and am really struggling with the HW questions especially those involving revenue recognition and R&D and software development costs, scoring around the 40%s. Is this normal? I’m starting to feel very stressed out and overwhelmed. Thanks to any who can help.

    Don't worry about it. It's where you are in the days before the exam that matters. You're doing great getting through that set of F2. make sure you schedule your FAR exam far out enough to give yourself enough time.

    BTW, I remember very well doing that set of 90 or so MCs on Revenue Timing F2…it is brutal. F2 is one of the hardest chapters because it's got lots of misc topics you may only get a question or two about on the exam (i.e.Tim Gearty says “a lot of onesy's and twosy's”)

    F1 seems not so bad, F2 & F3 are hard. F4 not so bad. F5 is very hard. F6 tricky but not as bad. F7 very hard.

    F8&F9 new stuff for some on NFp/govt but not so bad.

    @mdrosen,

    Yes, this is normal. I found F1, F8, and F9 to be manageable. F3 through F7 were rough. I found it helpful to read through each section of a chapter and make notes before attempting the homework. I ended up doing most of the FAR homework problems three times.

    AUD - 95, BEC - 85
    REG - 85, Rawrrrrrr FAR - 88
    Used Becker for all sections.

    I'm not sure if it's just me, but I do much better on homework questions on the sections that Peter Olinto teaches. My opinion is that Tim Gearty just reads the majority of the material, but I feel Peter Olinto paraphrases it and repeats it 1,000 times which helps me remember it a little more.

    I feel that this FAR information is so complex, but I've also heard from many people to do the questions over and over. Even if you bomb them the first time. Don't feel alone though because I'm in the same boat! 🙂

    Thanks for the encouragement! When I saw 88 questions just for FAR 2 revenue recognition and expense my jaw dropped to the floor. It is grueling and the material is brutal because the information is tricky. I was just concerned that my %'s on the HW were going to reflect my performance on the CPA but then realized I have a month to study and currently I'm not working so I just study all day 9-5 or 6.

    Are the questions on the actual exam similar to these HW questions, I've heard that they are easier (I sure hope so, lol).

    I'm studying for FAR as well and I am not doing so great. Can someone tell me what their order of studying/reviewing/notes/homework is? I am having trouble figuring out the best way to study efficiently as possible and in an order that will help me the best. So far I've been going through the all the lectures in that one chapter then taking notes on them all. It takes me hours to take the notes. After the notes I do the homework questions for each section then I start the lectures in the next chapter. Is this a good method or should I be doing something different??

    I haven't taken the FAR section yet, so I don't know how helpful my input is. However, I did take BEC with Becker and I thought the exam questions were much easier, or not as complex I should say. I did find my later testlets to be more challenging, but never as detailed and complex as what I practiced in Becker. I have been told by several people that they experienced very similar questions on the FAR exam (in prior testing windows) that they practiced in Becker and some of them were almost verbatim with the only difference being the numbers used. I don't know how true that is, but I think the harder and more complex the questions you practice, the easier it will be for you on the exam.
