I’m scheduled to take REG in April 2014 and am using Becker 2012 materials right now. Will that be sufficient or do I need to purchase the 2013 or 2014 materials to study? I really don’t want to spend any more money if the 2012 materials will suffice?

I’m also taking BEC in 2014. Will the 2012 materials be sufficient for BEC?

    Please advise.

    Thank you.

I know you can use the 2012 materials for a 2013 REG and BEC exams, according to the answer to the 2nd FAQ on this page https://beckerkb.custhelp.com/ , but don't know about 2014. If you call Becker and ask, I bet they'd say you can't use the 2012 materials for 2014, just to get you to buy the 2014 stuff, but if you really don't want to buy the 2014 materials, then you could read the updates to the 2012 material and, if you have time, maybe even look at the 2013 material updates (also on https://beckerkb.custhelp.com/ ) to see what has changed, but you could probably ignore all the changes to the specific numbers in the tax laws since Becker says they're not going to want to change questions every year, so they're not going to ask questions where you have to know the dollar amounts in every tax law. Maybe a useful question that you could ask Becker is how long they're going to continue adding updates on that webpage for the 2012 materials because if they'll keep doing it in 2014, then you should definitely be able to use the 2012 materials; if they stopped a while ago and won't add anymore, then you might need to look at the 2013-material updates or get the 2014 materials.
