Becker Question –

Has anyone had any experience with just reading the lecture, rather than watching the video?

I personally need to watch all lectures to get a better understanding of the material. He does skip several topics but I would recommend you to watch the lecture to reinforce certain key concepts. I found this chapter extremely boring, and the lectures actually made it a little bit more interesting for me.

I watched the lecture as well, and didn't mind it too much. If you don't watch the lecture I would make sure you read it at least twice. The more you read/use the information you either absorb items you might not have the first time or it ‘fits' together and makes more sense.

Remember to at least play the entire thing it if you want to take advantage of the Becker Promise.

I made it a point to watch this lecture twice. I think its safe to say that IT is not our strong suit and I know it helped me to listen because a lot of the topic and terms I had never herd of before. Just my 2 cents.

I watch the videos at least once. I like Olinto but Gearty and that guy Rick (I forgot his last name), never liked their style: BOORRIINNGG!

It's a few hours. I say just suck it up and watch the lecture. You might get something out of it. If not, so you wasted a few hours, big deal. The CPA exam has wasted more than a few hours of all of our lives already anyway!

Just watch it once. IT in general is pretty much a crapshoot as far as reviewing and then getting tested on it. I found the whole chapter to be pretty useless. Just understand segregation of duties and understand the information systems and their flow of entry to executive decision software…

But I also have a strong IT background so I guess I am pretty biased so I can understand how it is a challenging subject to others. Just don't take away the “knowledge” as that applicable to real life, hah.

Don't watch it and download futurecpa's BEC notes. I watch the videos once, but I never pay attention to them as I am too busy highlighting. I look back and I say that watching videos for me was pointless.

i can say since i am somewhat familiar with IT that the videos are a joke… however that being said, you should read the material since the IT questions are more conceptual… i found it easier to draw charts for the different types of systems, and know the advantages of the different types of communication protocols, security, etc.

i think as long as you know the material in the book and can complete the homework without much difficulty that you understand the concepts and should be okay. i had the becker cpa materials and felt it was a bit lacking in detail and structure but the barebone information was there.

after taking the exam i felt of all the IT questions that i did receive, all but 1 could be answered with the material i the book.
