    So I’m in the process of trying to figure out what review I am going to go with. I’ve read the free guide provided by another71 and have viewed old threads. After my research I’ve concluded that the obvious answer is it depends on your learning style. For me I think I can study multiple ways and still be successful. In college I always would read, do review mcq, and sometimes re-write things if I had to memorize something (like the audit opinion). I like the idea of having video lectures though, I don’t want something that is completely self study. The 2 main ones I have looked at so far is Roger and Becker. Roger is very enthusiastic and I like that… My only issue with the videos I have seen of his is that his hand writing is EXTREMELY hard to read on that white board. Becker seemed more cut and dry, to the point. Even though Becker was more morning, to me the lectures were more visually satisfying. I haven’t looked into other ones yet such as CPAexcel. Any advice from CPA’s or anyone pursuing a CPA that has had experience with this software would be awesome! I’m having a really hard time trying to figure out what I’m going to invest my money in.

    Thanks in advance.

    Roger said these himself:
    he has the worst handwriting known to mankind;
    He write like a doctor and is paid like a teacher. lol

    Anyway, you don't need to worry about his handwriting, most of the thing he writes on that board, you'll see the same in his book.

    I've only used Roger, but his program is awesome. Don't judge by his handwriting – he acknowledges it is bad, and every lecture is a split screen with the related text material on the right hand side. I look at his writing when he's setting up a problem, but it's always in the book if I need to see it again. Roger is very engaging and he's very good at breaking complex topics down to where you can understand them. One con I've heard is some think he skims over details. I like that because he doesn't waste my time, but someone fresh out of school or who has worked in fields outside of accounting may need that detail. I also think his test bank could be enlarged. Overall though I think he's done a great job at helping me to prepare for the exams.

    I passed FAR and BEC with Roger. I honestly didn't even take that many notes. I highlighted and made notes in the book as I went. I did try taking notes similar to what I was used to in school but it was taking me forever to get through the lectures so I stopped. If he was showing the example solution to a problem, I definitely wrote it down but I don't remember having any issues with his handwriting for FAR type questions.

    I do recommend you take a look at the other mid-range CPA programs as well as consider Ninja products to supplement.

    AUD - 73, 67. (Ok I gotta confess I was even more lazy this time around)

    Thanks to everyone who responded so far. Yeah the consensus with most posts I've read on the internet seems to be to pass on Becker, although a lot of people swear by Becker. I wonder if what Becker says about it's pass rates are true in any way.I think I am leaning toward Roger right now and might look into CPAexcel a little more. I just want to make sure I supply myself with the right material to pass.

    A lot of CPA review courses claim to have pass rates similar to the number reported by Becker. Even Roger does. See this previous post by Jeff.

    “The pass rates for each course are all self-reported and are all in the 80s according to the courses.

    Don't go by the marketing … go by the demo videos.”

    You can pass with enough effort from any CPA review course. Some will just work better for you than others.
