REG – Becker vs. NINJA MCQs

    Exam is on Friday. I’ve done pretty much all of the NINJA MCQs one round over the past 2 weeks, and have been working on random questions on a second round for 2 days now. So far I have finished about 500 of them on the second round, scoring an average of 81%. A short analysis of my failing 18%:

    – 3 ppt = simple mistakes, avoidable on actual exam day (hopefully)

    – 5 ppt = questions that are either odd or impossible for me to pick up in this short time frame = dead end

    – 11 ppt = stuff I should know by now but failed on due to lack of knowledge

    I felt pretty good about this since 81+3=84%, which is an OK score at this point (taking into account that some questions are “memorized” at this point, so deducting 5 ppt or so from this I suppose is fair to give an actual indication). Then I did the Becker practice exam today and scored 72%, which made me wonder;

    Are the Becker MCQs that “different” and more “difficult”, as compared with the NINJA test bank? Are they more relevant for the actual exam?

    If anyone who has used both Becker and NINJA for purposes of REG MCQs could share some views on this, it would be greatly appreciated. I still got 2 full days before exam, so I am thinking that I should perhaps ditch NINJA at this point and run 200 Becker MCQs a day or so.

    I wouldn't run more MCQs to be honest. The actual test will be easier than NINJA MCQ. So far you've shown strong results and a lot of dedication so you'll pass unless they bash you with some pretty nasty individual tax sims.

    Thanks all for your input & kind words, much needed these times – just got home from a full day of studying, absolutely exhausted. Not used to this 8 years after graduating university, I can tell you! I put in 10-12 hours a day, and on top of that a few working hours (all though did put myself on out of office and most people know I am in a busy period for exam now, so did not spend more than max 1-2 hours a day last week).

    Will try to focus on notes and individual tax tomorrow. Travelling across the pond on Thursday, so will have an 8-hour flight to New York with my notes too. Then it's action time! Being on European time means I will get up around 3 am on Friday. Exam is at noon, so will be 6 pm my time… hoping not to be too tired.

    Will check out AICPAs same questions… from what I can recall, they're quite few? Any correlation between these and the questions currently being tested on the exam?
