    From what I’ve read, it seems at least for this pain in the ass test, Becker needs to be supplemented by either Wiley, Bisk, or CPA excel. Can someone please confirm this that has passed? I have been through all questions, supplementals, sims, and practice tests (which are harder and I got 82 and 77 on) in Becker and still can’t seem to get REG passed! I ace them too; like in the 90s. Please help! I know the Sims killed me!

    I only used Becker to study for the exams, so I can't say if other review courses will help. Do you feel like you really understand the MC or that you have just seen them so many times that you know what the answer is just by looking at the answer? Maybe trying to doing the MC questions, without actually looking at the possible answers (if it works out, like calculating someone's AGI). Also, I know most people only do the simulations until you are comfortable with the format, but I found simulations are a good way really grasp the material. I have heard people say Wiley Test Bank is a good supplement to Becker and its about $80 or so through another71.com.

    FAR 10/1/2010 =====> 90
    BEC 10/28/2010 ====> 81
    REG 2/2/2011 ======> 82
    AUD 5/28/2011 =====> 92 ===========>DONE!!!!

    Since you've taken REG thrice using Becker, there's a high possibility that you've just memorized a lot of the answers instead of fully understanding them which is why you're scoring high in Beckers exams but not on the actual exam.

    I used Becker exclusively except for my REG exam this year which is when I supplemented it with Wiley. I turned to Wiley only if I didn't understand a particular concept or I felt that Becker did not go too deep into a certain concept. However, I solved a lot of questions from the Wiley book and it was a definite change. You will encounter some questions that are identical but I personally felt that Wiley framed questions in a different way and I found them harder to understand. It helped change the way I approached a question and really helped me pass that brutal exam!

    As for simulations, I don't think there's a particular way to study them. If you understand your basic concepts and leave enough time to search the Code in the exam, it might be easier.

    Good Luck and I hope you come out with a great score the next time! 🙂

    I was able to scrape by using the Becker text and Bisk videos…Looking back on it I should have spent more time practicing sims, but since I did not have the “official” version of Becker I was unable to do so.

    AUD 79 Q4 2010 - NY
    BEC 84 Q4 2010
    REG 79 Q1 2011
    FAR 86 Q2 2011 - Done

    The REG Simulation in 2011 are way harder now, so I believe the reason why a lot of ppl didn't pass it is becuz how detailed the sims are in REG.

    My advice is try to remember on the tiny things, such as Ages, Limites, Exclusion amounts, Formulas for Estate/Trusts etc…. cuz believe it or not, they are heavily tested in sim.

    I know the Sims are tough. I felt like Becker was too light on tax and too heavy on law. Anyone else feel the same? I also felt that S Corps were hardly covered at all.

    Does anyone know what software would be best to use, other than Becker, that would give me the most helpful and difficult practive sims? Those are my weak point.
