Okay, I’m taking REG next Saturday and it seems that all of a sudden my life is going crazy! I’m a full time graduate student and I work part time as well so it feels like I have no time to study for REG! Between yesterday and today, I have found out that I have 2 tests, 2 seminars and 1 presentation due next week – and that’s all the week of REG!!! I’m trying to stay calm and stick to 3 hours of sleep a night with plenty of coffee and mountain dew so that I can actually finish everything that needs to be done, but I don’t know how much more I can cram in my head.

I’ve been taking one Becker comprehensive practice test every day and I keep scoring in the low 80s – my weakest point being chapter 7. Can anyone tell me how they were scoring on these practice tests and how they ended up doing on the actual exam? Also, is scoring in the 80s too low? And is chapter 7 really important enough to devote more time to?

    Soon2bCPA – okay first of all… breathe.

Phew. Ok. You certainly do have a lot on your plate but think positively that it is all doable. The next couple weeks are going to be crazy but you honestly have to make use of every minute of your day. We have all been there I promise. Also, you really need to try to find time for sleep too. Try to stay sane and positive throughout this time.

So my experience with REG using Becker materials (2010). I studied really hard earlier this year and took it end of May and failed with a 72. I actually gave that exam my all. However, i wasnt scoring in the 80s on any practice/progress tests. i was much lower and more score showed it apparantly. I definitely felt like i wasnt prepared for the exam BUT i spent equal amount of time on learning the tax chapters and learning the law chapters. Dummy. I believe law is only 25%-ish of the exam. I only saw a handful of law questions on the exam. I was pretty livid that I didnt catch that info when i was studying…. sooo… this leads me to round two.

I re-took the exam at the end of August and during my refresh of the materials, i didnt even make it for a once over on chapter 6 AND chapter 7. Didnt even skim, no time. Knowing what I know now, i took a major chance that the law chapters werent going to be heavily tested and they werent. My advice to you… be familiar with the law concepts but really know the tax chapters. That's a risk to take but you can see their breakout of the percentages of what will test you on and i believe law was only 25%. I would look into that. Good luck!

Thanks for the info Bryn333! You're right – this is doable! I guess I just need to try my best and give it a go – no use panicking now! I guess I'm just going to plan to skim over the law chapters and really get into the tax chapters like you suggested. Wow, this is going to be a looong couple of weeks.
