Hello everybody. I would like to briefly introduce myself to this forum. My name is Clint and I am from Detroit. I graduated in May with my MBA from Wayne State University in Detroit and have been focusing on the CPA exam since June. I passed Regulation and BEC so far and I am currently reviewing for FAR that I will be sitting for on October 19. I have been following CPA-related events on this site for about a month now and I must say that last weekend is as about as stressful as it gets with this exam. I followed all the events with NASBA and their “IT” problem. But it was nice to finally get our scores last Monday night. And like everyone on here I would like to thank Jeff for providing a forum like this in order to allow us future CPAs a place to not only vent but to communicate with each other.

Now on to my question and this may be a stupid one but let’s see. My question relates to the simulations in Becker and I guess to a further extent on the exam. My question is this: with regards to the “Communication Tab”, can you copy and paste information from the “Research Tab” into the memo in the “Communication Tab.” And the reason I think this may be a dumb question is because I passed Regulation on my first attempt and I feel that I would have allocated my time better by being able to cut and paste if you can indeed do so. And not to mention that I probably would have scored better on the simulations if I did this.

So I guess I’m asking is if you can do that and if you can how do you because I am having a hard time figuring it out. Thanks in advance and remember that “we are on our way to a CPA baby”. Too much Peter Olinto if you ask me lol.

I'm going to have to say no. In fact, the areas that you aren't using in the research part were blocked when I tried, even in Gleim online sims.

I tryed, it did not work. By at least you look at Researcg tab for your commnunication.

Copy and paste – no. But I did use research tab for AUD, just like Anita said. I had plenty of time, so I wrote needed info down and drafted my memo on paper. But again, AUD gives you a lot of time, whereas with FARE it might be a waste and you might just want to give it your best shot with your own knowledge.

On Becker courses they said that we are graded for organization and good language, NOT for technical content in Communication part… and, so, as long as we don't give illegal advice, use proper terminology, and our memo is clear and logical – we should be fine.

Thanks everyone for the input. I now feel better going into my FAR exam next month because at least I know that I can't do that. I figured that the exam would not allow you to do that but I wanted to be sure.

no and never needed to…….communication does not need the research tab to complete….if anything it will only slow you down or confuse you

study hard and you will be fine…….remember what you learned in English class and apply what you learned in your CPA review….it is simple and easy way to get up to 10 points on the exam…….

Know how to communicate in the written form and you will be fine……never have typos, spelling errors, word useage errors….vocab…etc

Sentence structure is key and paragraph…….intro….middle……..end…….paragraphs……

    just like in school…….

Also, never use … A single period will suffice. In fact, by using the ellipsis in your writing, many reviewers believe that you are hiding something in order to prove only your point, when the omitted text in fact contradicts your very meaning.

    just messing with you Rob…

    FAR - 85; BEC - 79; AUD - 92; REG - 86!!!
