Problems with Wiley Multiple Choice Questions After Doing Becker - Page 2

I am a little nervous after loading up my 2011 Wiley test bank for FAR. I was feeling really confident for FAR after getting a good grasp of Becker’s multiple choice questions. So I decided to begin overkill and started to do WIley multiple choice questions.

An hour later I am all flustered with anxiety because I was getting less than half right. I have 9 days to finish my FAR studying and now I am nervous that Wiley and Becker problems are so foreign from each other. Any recommendations or insights from people who used both programs? I think I am going to spend the rest of my nine days on the Wiley test bank.

I also am concerned that I am missing the analytical skills to figure out new problems that I have not seen:(

I spoke to an ancient wise man who sent me on a mushroom induced journey through an ancient forest to find the key to passing the CPA exam. A talking spider monkey told me to throw the last of my drinking water in the dirt to find what I was looking for. So I followed his instructions and the following message appeared in the soil:

"Do 5000 multiple choice questions for each section"

I had the same experience from Becker –> WTB.

I think a big part was the fact that Becker likes to recycle their questions found in (HW, Progress tests, Lectures, etc.)

I began to subconsciously memorize the questions and answers.

I wouldn't be too discouraged about WTB scores.. but really focus on the big topics and try to find a pattern in the questions you are getting wrong. From my experience, WTB questions are pretty similar to the “hard” testlets in actual exams.

No worries πŸ˜‰ and anxiety issues don't sound good! Better take care of yourself first. Whiskey isn't probably the best solution but a little bit of fun on a Friday night is allowed.

I have 2.5 seasons of House to finish before I start the last season of Dexter. I heard it was disappointing…

    FAR: 81 (May 2013)
    BEC: 81 (July 2013)
    REG: 83 (August 2013)
    AUD: 82 (November 2013)
    California CPA since 1/30/14

Stick with Becker. I had similar experiences when I used wiley test bank. I tried to supplement at the end after going through the Becker material so many times. There is no need to stress yourself out over it.

A word of advice for you going forward – I did the same thing for AUD and nearly freaked out when I saw some of the IT questions in the WTB. There were questions on material not mentioned once in Becker's AUD textbook. I actually e-mailed the professor for my Becker online course asking about this and was basically told not to pay attention to those kind of questions. They were recycled BEC questions being used because BEC goes much further into IT and the WTB covered that material much deeper than necessary for the AUD exam.

After that I stuck with Becker 100% for BEC and 100% for REG and so far its worked out well. I recommend you do the same.

    FAR - 7/1/13 - 98
    AUD - 8/31/13 - 94
    BEC - 11/23/13 - 89
    REG - 1/13/14 - 86

@NYIACCT89 – do you think it is still worth it to pay the ~$90 for AUD MCQs from Wiley? I use Fast Forward Academy and for FAR, I supplemented with Wiley MCQs. Worked out pretty well for FAR, but your comment above made me question doing same for AUD.

    FAR 12/3/14, 87
    AUD 2/3/14, 90
    BEC 4/1/14, 88
    REG 5/27/14, 94

Interesting. I think there were about 30-40 IT questions for AUD in Wiley TB. BEC had over 100 and way too much detail so I just did them once.

    REG: 83 (August 2013)

AICPA-licensed mcqs over topics that your review course didn't cover are exactly why supplementing is a GOOD idea.
