Just wonder how many people actually do the optional MCQ? Why does Becker call it optional? Also, for those who use Becker and pass it with Becker, did you do the optional hw? Does it help? Sometimes I feel like those optional hw are duplicate? But who knows what I am seeing…

Some of them are duplicated. For FAR I did not do any optional MCQ nor did I do the SIMs. For REG, I have done all the SIMs and all of the optional MCQ because I felt I needed additional practice. Personally I think if they were so important they wouldn't be optional.

Given the substantial amount of HW questions, I would recommend leaving them as a final resort. There definitely are some repeats within each individual assignment, but it isn't overly excessive. If you do the homework slowly and take advantage of them rather than plowing through, you should be fine be plenty prepared. I spend about a minute for responding and like 3 more minutes understanding not only the correct answer, but any answer choices that are topics you want to brush up on, even if you know it doesn't pertain to the question at hand. Aim for 85% on the HW by completion and you'll set.

Simulations should be completed before the optional homework as well. You don't want to outperform on the MCQ's but underperform on the TBS. Given the scale, it's definitely better to do so-so on each.

Also, just something I think adds value in a time-crunch: Do the latter questions of a set first, it seems they are more recent releases. Obviously if you have time, no need to prioritize.

I have Becker, and I usually left them until I was read to review. When I listened to the lectures, I would do all MC questions except the optional, then do the optional the following week as I re-read each chapter. This helped me a lot because while some are repeat questions, many of them aren't and it was nice to be exposed to some new ones and see If my score improved from the homework the week before.

    FAR- 93
    BEC- 90
    REG- 94

I thought the Optional Homework was much tougher than the normal homework and much tougher than exam questions. If I could handle the optional stuff, I felt pretty good about the subject. If I struggled with the optional homework, I didn't worry about it too much as long as I was good with the normal questions.

The one set of optional homework that stood out for me was on BEC chapter B3. The Financial Management optional homework was SO out there that I didn't finish that section off.

For FAR I did all the optional stuff along with the regular MCQ as I went through each chapter. For BEC I did most of the optional MCQ during my review phase, but didn't finish all of them.

I prefer the method of using them as a refresher during review.
