Mini progress tests in practice mode using Becker

Hi everyone! I found it helpful to apply Jeff’s technique of reviewing by doing mini tests of 20 MCQs one topic at a time. However, he advices to do this on “practice mode”, which I am assuming it is to look at explanation as soon as you answer. I was using Becker’s progress tests to do this, but they don’t give the explanation right away. I usually do the 20 MCQS and then review the explanations and take notes.

Does anyone know if there is a way to see explanation right away? I would go back and do HW questions but I don’t think they shuffle the order of the questions on the HW sessions…so I would be stuck doing the same first 20 in a topic unless I randomly pick myself which question I want to work on next from the drop down menu. What do you Becker users do?

    BEC: 73, 81
    AUD: 85
    FAR: 71, 77
    REG: 74, 75...finally DONE! 😀

*This is my 2nd attempt at the CPA exam. For all of you who have failed this exam many times, given up on it, or taken a break like me, remember that it is still possible to finish what you started...failure is the opportunity to begin again more intelligently 🙂

Yama, I have the same problem. It used to not be like this before Becker updated their website about a month or so ago. I sent a comment into Becker about this, and nobody really seems to know why.

It's pretty frustrating because by the time I see the explanation for the question, I'll have forgot why I got it wrong in the first place!

Now I just try to do sets of 10 MCQs at a time on Becker, so I can more quickly see the right answer. Once I finish all 10 chapters though, I'll probably be spending more time with Wiley Test Bank because I think I'll be too familiar with Becker questions. This is just what I've done on my tests so far.

Based on your scores I will take your advice very very seriously…I have to think about investing in WTB as I did not want to spend more cash on materials and also, based on my experience in the past, I never have time to go thru all Becker questions anyway :/

    Becker is strange. In BEC if I do a 12 question test I get 0 B6 questions, if I do a 13 question test I get 1 B6 questions, if I do a 14 question test I get 0 B6 questions

    AUD - 5/2013 91
    FAR - 7/2013 92
    BEC - 8/2013 90
    REG - 8/2013

this has been my only criticism with Becker.. I wish you could do progress tests in “practice mode”. I know they have the capability of programming this option..

    BEC 88 5/25/2013
    FAR 96 7/01/2013
    AUD 99 7/08/2013
    REG 93 8/01/2013

    Straight Becker'in it

    Hi guys,

I know this is old but I have a tip for the Becker progress tests. You used to be able to press the answer button after each question so you could look at the explanations as you were going through the test. Unfortunately you can't do this anymore. However there is a trick!

If you click the print button it will open the explanation in a new window. With firefox and IE you may not be able to see the full answer if its a long one but if you use google chrome you will be able to see the whole answer.

    Hope this helps somebody!

I like the progress tests format (especially because it rotates the questions). I am less than a week out from my FAR test and am trying to do a full progress test (100 questions) every other night. After the test, I copy and paste all of the questions that I got wrong (plus any questions that I think are important review questions), and read through all of the questions that I got right while reviewing the test (because I also need to understand why I got something right). Then on the evenings when I am not doing a progress test, I go through all of the questions that I had copied and pasted until I am getting them all correct (this review includes writing out all JEs to better solidify my understanding). I also go through whatever section I was weakest in (per the summary at the end of the test) and do a hard review of that section (i.e. go back to the book and my notes, and possibly go through the homework questions and simulations). I did this for REG and passed the first time, so I am hoping it will work with my first attempt with FAR.

I need to find a way to work on my speed, though. I'm still taking way too long on my calculations.

    REG - Nov 4, 2013: 88
    FAR - Feb 27, 2014: 86
    AUD - April 5, 2014: 91
    BEC - May 6, 2014: 83

I want to review each question on the progress test without having to wait until the exam is over. On the 2012 version you could do it just by clicking on print, but I cant do the same for the 2014 version. Can anyone help me?
