Is it me, or are some of the Becker CPA homework questions EXTERMELY difficult? Is this the actual difficulty of the exam? Like am I likely to see questions that are in such freaking detailed, or will I be tested on the “general concept”?

The general consensus is that the actual MCQ's questions are significantly easier than Becker and the SIMS questions are more difficult than Becker. Overall Becker practice tests and practice questions are much more in depth than the actual exam. It would seem that this is intentional to adequately prepare you for the test. That being said don't average 50%'s on the homework and expect to pass the exam.

I averaged 60-70s on the Becker program, and ended up with an 80 on actual exam.

I felt that REG was fairly close in terms of MCQs. SIMS are just uncomparable in all subjects that have SIMS! I cannot recall having any really involved MCQs on any of my exams … not to the extent you would see in the Becker HW. However, if you can master the MCQ then you are technically mastering concepts and can apply them to exam questions that are typically much less involved.

The Becker instructors make it pretty well known that the Becker MCQ are more difficult than the actual exam. Which to be honest, is a good thing. You'll find that Becker provides you with a lot of “distractors” compared to the actual exam which is much more direct on what they are asking.
