Will the Becker CPA Review book be enough to start over and pass the exam? or do I need access to the whole course (videos, flashcards, etc.)? I’m retaking BEC in November after failing in 2016, and would like to explore other options (used to study with Ninja and Wiley).

    Becker book is not enough.

It does have some MCQ and a few sim-like activities but it simply won't do. With the hours one must invest, it makes no sense to cheap out.

If you already did Becker , and have the book, then Ninja would be a great supplement.

Becker book is not enough – especially with the new exam. But, the book does a good job setting a solid foundation. However, the examiners will throw Sims at you from left field that are barely, barely covered in the ALL of the material. It's ridiculous, but it is what it is. I'll be hitting the the IRC to get some clarification about some topics from REG.

    Goodluck.

Thank you @M123. Yes, that's my plan to get Ninja MCQs and notes.

The Becker textbooks are incredibly underrated. The book is so full of material and very well written. If I could do it all over again I would go with the most current Becker textbook and one of the Ninja packages, particularly one with the audio. A close friend passed REG by just listening to the audio during his commute and going home to do the MCQs.

I agree with the above comments. I used Becker textbooks for years. Even with my laziness doing the MCQs/SIMs, I still get into the 50s, by just reading 2008 Becker textbooks & 2016 Ninja notes, 2 days before the exam. Took 2017 Q1/Q3 – 2 sets of 4 sections each, in a span of 1-2 days before the exam. They were experiments, expensive, but it's worth the peace of mind, knowing what you're in for.

I passed 2017 Q3 Audit (passed twice), because I am comfortable with the area, even by just reading the book & notes.

Recently, bought the 2017 Ninja FAR & REG ‘Sniper' edition packages, likely I will get the BEC as well. I will use all of my Ninja products this time for 2017 Q4 & 2018 Q1/Q2. I am just taking 1-2 exams every month or two, not 4 sections at the same time.

Likely, I will still use Becker texts for extra reading.

Becker is enough. I felt like it was very comprehensive and may have over done some of the material but more is better than less.

Just becker book might not be enough. Pair it with a MCQ test bank — any testbank — and you are good to go. Ninja testbank, wiley, any testbank.

Thank you all for your responses and suggestions! I have been out of school over 10 years, started this journey last year and although have accounting experience, this is a beast! Needed some encouragement before I quit trying.

Ninja mcq is a must. Passed my exams with using mostly ninja. Time spent on becker: 25% Ninja Mcq: 75

The becker book AND test banks/practice sims are more than enough. Becker is the only review course that I would be comfortable recommending to other candidates. It is expensive and I had to do the 0% financing but to me it was well worth it. Other CPAS have recommended it to me before I went through the process and it worked fantastic for me. Was able to pass 3 out of my 4 CPA exams on the first try. The one I didn't pass was because I was slacking.
