Is Becker sufficient enough for AUD ???

Hello, I just took AUD two weeks ago and I came out feeling I was NOT ready for this exam at all. Especially on the topics of Risk of Material Mistake and Detection Risk and questions on all those reports (you really have to dive deep and read EVERY tiny details). So I was wondering, Is Becker enough or should I add Wiley to my study plan as well…

My scores were weak on EVERYTHING…mcq & SIMS…. I was shocked to see a 55 O_o…. even though I studied for 3 months. BUT, one of my problems was that I did not do any practice problems (did not have time to study for those practice problems) Others say to use the research tab on SIMS (which I did not). Is the research tab really that helpful?

Hopefully i will pass AUD in May… Good Luck to all!

Wait a second, you didn't do any practice problems? Really?

Yeah, Becker is sufficient, but you really do have to read/understand all the details. You also should do all the hw, as that is very helpful PLUS people learn more from doing the hw. Understand why each question is right and why it's wrong.

I would also recommended using the research tab on the SIMS as well as supplement Becker with Wiley test bank.

I did not do the practice problems because by the time I was starting to understand the material, it was exam time already…

=( …. I was thinking… i rather get all the material down 1st than being half a$$ on my chapters… i thought it will be a better use of my time… =(

Alright well at least you know what to do now in order to pass. From what I've heard about audit, the questions are 10x more important than reading is. Good luck!

    @laugeorge

I used Becker and Wiley, both very helpful.

I passed with a 79 on the first try, not a genius score, but I passed.

I think for all exams is all about repetition…..lots of MCQ's Good Luck!!!

I used Becker for audit. It is sufficient. Audit was the only exam I felt confident I passed leaving the test center. The multiple choice questions in the software package were very similar to what was on the exam.

PS I wouldn't worry too much if you haven't mastered the flowcharts/cycles.

I think just a basic understanding of the audit risk model goes a long way in determining how control risk affects detection risk, and so on. It's a pretty simple equation and helps a ton if you get how changes in each risk affects the others.

AR = RMM (IRXCR) X DR

If you're using Becker, memorize that “house” of transactions and be able to determine if you're vouching down to source documents (existence, occurrence) or tracing up to FS docs (completeness). Knowing the order of every single transaction cycle, although helpful, isn't crucial if you can determine which direction you're testing.

IMO, they key to understanding audit is listening to the lectures over and over and over. I didn't take Becker, but took Roger and all I did was listen to his lectures and do MC and when I was taking the exam, I was so happy because everything was coming to me so easily. I have to admit, real life experience in a public accounting firm also made understanding the material easier.

Looking back on the exam, I think it would have been sooo much harder if I just came out of school and took the exam.

Did you practise MCQ's from Wiley? Is it fine if I listen to Roger's lectures and do MCQ's from passmasters? Does Roger cover all important topics in his lectures?

you definitely made a mistake, if you are in a rush, go straight to MCQs instead of reading lectures, but now you know what to do, 🙂 without doing MCQs and get 55 i personally think is pretty good. good luck next time.

IMO Becker is also good for Auditing and I liked the way book has points. Read the book 3-4 times and do MC and you will be good to go.

I used Becker all the way and passed three parts the first time, but you have to do everything they tell you to do, lectures, MC's SIMS. I did EVERYTHING they way they lined it up and it worked for me.

IMHO……it's not about the review programs…..even though the majority of the people say so….just know ur stuff….no way around it….

Are the Becker DvDs the same as the online class Lectures?

@ atelery I so agree. To me if you really don't understand the material and need to get a more thorough understanding Wiley is better, but some people get bogged down in the details, or do better with the whole Becker program rather than just reading on their own. But the real meat of Becker is in the review questions. I can't count the number of notes I've made in these books for things I got wrong because it wasn't said or explained so as to easily answer that specific question. @ laugeorge – do all the questions (maybe more than once) and you'll thank yourself.

    Using Wiley and Becker.
