winnie718MemberI failed AUD twice 72, 73. I have used Becker textbook and MCQ & wiley testbank. I did all of them. I felt I am not good simulation part. I think that’s the main reason I failed. I remember I encountered most simulation questions that I have never seen before. I don’t know what to do now. Also, I have REG on 4/1/13. Should I postpone it? Please help. Any suggestion is greatly appreciated.

KimboroniMemberLook really carefully at why you are struggling with the SIMs so you can study more of the concepts behind the questions– maybe you are having a hard time with the assertions (such as completeness vs. occurrence), or with the accounting entries for making the corrections, in which case studying FAR materials may be helpful.
My Wiley books had a method for approaching questions (especially the SIMs) that I found helpful. I don't have it with me to share right now.
Wiley is about to update their test bank, so maybe it will have some fresh meat in the form of new questions.
I read here that Gleim has good SIMs. I almost bought it the day before the AUD test, then decided not to. I ended up with 84 with pretty much just the Wiley materials, plus a few other random free things.
AUD 84 (1/9/14-Wiley books/TB + free materials)
FAR 83 (5/21/14-the above + NINJA 10 Pt Combo Lite)
REG 84 (7/9/14-Wiley books/TB + NINJA Audio/FC/Notes)
BEC 76 (10/5/14-Wiley books/TB + NINJA Audio/FC)Disclaimer: My ninja avatar is not meant to imply that I have any affiliation with this site other than being a forum member. That's a pic of a T-shirt that my daughter gave me for my birthday. 🙂

Determined CPAParticipantI would reschedule Reg and focus on Audit, especially since you are so close and moving in the right direction. The first time I took audit, I got a 70. I left the test feeling as if I might pass so was very devastated when I saw I failed. I found out today I passed on the retake!
What I did differently was:
1. I read the ninja notes over 10 times, focusing mainly on the topics I wasn't 100% confident in. Once you study for a retake, you have a feel for what you know vs. what you don't – try and focus on what you don't (easier said than done, I know).
2. I took so many progress tests (Becker), some that were 30 questions, some that were 60 questions, and when time would permit, 100 questions.
3. I focused a LOT on the transaction cycle. I spent an entire weekend just on that (ch 4 in Becker – this was someone's advice to me when I wrote about having to re-take audit – I was advised to focus on A4, and he was right!). I rewrote the diagrams and really tried to understand the material.
4. I did a TON of Wiley questions. I felt that the mix of Becker and Wiley really helped.
5. I did maybe 10 sims – I find it hard to study that way, especially since you don't know what your test will be like.
I would say the Ninja notes and spending all that extra time on the transaction cycle is how I was able to grab that extra 5 points.
Another thing that I do is ‘reward' myself. If I get through a lecture, a treat myself to a manicure – something like that. It's small accomplishments that lead to the victory.
With all that said, 72 and 73 are rough scores to receive. It seems like you really know the material – just the sims you are getting are hard. Maybe leave yourself more time for the sims next time around. I left myself an hour and 45 mins for the sims, which allowed me time to use the AL.
Good luck – the next time you take this exam, you will pass!
A - 75
B - 78 God is good.
F - 77 Answered prayers.
R - 84! Done!!Paperwork sent - waiting for license!!
Still on a cloud and in shock. Through God, all things will happen.February 4, 2014 at 1:22 am #508642

vandelayMemberi failed audit in Nov window…i used beckers, Wiley MCQ and Ninja notes …ended up geting 71. Besides , I finished my test in 3hrs ..never bothered to spend time reviewing SIMS.
Jan – window:
This time i passed with 86…just changed my strategy…I did the following….
1) i just thought of focusing on one reveiw course this time…i decided to stick with Beckers
2) plus supplemented with Ninja notes.
3) spend two weeks before test reviewing lectures and MCQ.
4) Did around 1000 mcqs 3 days before test…followed advice of @UCMCPA …to do as many MCQ as possible.
5) On test day…finished MCQ in 2 hrs and spend the rest two hrs on SIMS…used AL extensively…infact i got this advice from one of the member of this forum. This has helped me tremendously as i was able to correct few mistake, which i am sure help me to pass.
Hope this helps….

G3MemberThe changing point for me with AUD was the NINJA Notes (thanks Jeff) and rewriting all my notes and reading those handwritten notes several times before test day
Good Luck!
