    Hey everyone,

Think I posted this in the wrong forum before but anyway, my firm recently cut out a program that allowed us to get updated Becker material at a low price. Now I’m stuck with 2010 FAR material and an exam scheduled for Nov. 21. Any good advice on the best way to master the new material without spedning a fortune on a whole new course for 2011? Thanks in advance for your help.

I would get the Wiley 2011 update book.

    Awesome, this one i'm guessing…

It seems to be just what I'm looking for, may still get the Wiley test bank/ninja notes but this definitely beats buying a whole new course.

    Thanks!

Did you buy a Becker package or did your firm? Becker will send you an updated disc for free and an updated book for $20 I believe

    BEC - 86
    AUD - 94
    REG - 88
    FAR - 89

A couple of things to keep in mind if you can't get the Becker update that pshustler described. One, if you only need updated material for FAR, you're better off getting the 2011 Wiley FAR book rather than the update book. They're not that different in price, and, not only will you have problems on the new topics, but you'll have a lot of MCQ to supplement the ones in Becker plus you'll have examples of the SIMS which will help you become familiar with the new format. Two, I highly recommend a test bank no matter what you do. It gives you more questions, gets you used to the computer screen you'll see on the exam, helps you increase your speed/question which is essential with FAR, and it's updated if you get the online version. I used Wiley and thought it was excellent for FAR; a lot of people also like Gleim. Three, all the 2011 texts were written at the end of 2010, and there were some significant updates on 7/1/11. I don't know what if any changes there were for FAR, but Jeff's Ninja notes are updated for the new changes. I used them for REG and BEC and would have bought them for FAR and AUD if I'd realized how helpful they could be during my review.

    FAR 4/1/11 - 89
    AUD 4/15/11 - 85
    REG 4/29/11 - 80
    BEC 5/13/11 - 85

pshustler…I called becker yesterday and they discontinued that program in march, and I was never made aware of that. So there goes that.

kb24…lots of great options there, thanks. Couple concerns though, I hear the wiley book is a bit overwhelming so am debating if that is the best option. I definitely want to get a test bank to supplement becker, so I am thinking I might do a that (Gleim or WIley) and the Ninja notes. I am giving myself about 7 weeks to study but I was put on a client that is an hour away so my commute will limit the amount of time I have to read so my focus is finding whatever is most effective (which is why I'm not sure buying a whole new book is my best bet). So in summary, 2010 becker, Ninja notes, test bank….thoughts?

And thanks again everyone, I really appreciate the contributions.

    @DanK

You're right that the Wiley text is dense. However, you can use it as a supplement to Becker. That way you not only get the 2011 updates, but also have access to lots more problems plus an additional resource if you need additional information about a topic. The only comment I have about choice of test bank is to verify what's included with Gleim. I think you have to buy two separate ones for MCQ and SIMS. If someone who has experience with Gleim knows something different, please feel free to correct me.

    FAR 4/1/11 - 89
    AUD 4/15/11 - 85
    REG 4/29/11 - 80
    BEC 5/13/11 - 85

@kb24, you bring up some good points, and with the Wiley book being so affordable I might as well just go for it. And I'll most likely tack on the Wiley test bank too. Thanks for the input.

Have you or anyone else reading this had experience with the Ninja notes for FAR? I hear some good things just not sure if it'll be overkill considering the two books, test bank, and my becker flashcards. Might not hurt as final week review though.

Oh and kb24, nice work on the timing of your scores, you did not waste any time getting this test over with. Well, off to take REG in 3 hours, hope this hurricane holds off long enough in PA to allow me to take it.

I didn't find this forum until the day after I took FAR so I didn't use the Ninja notes. I did use them for REG and BEC and found them very helpful. I felt that the combination of Becker/Wiley did a better job for both FAR and AUD than for REG and BEC so I did end up using them on the two exams where I needed the most help. One other point–Jeff updated the notes for the 7/1 changes. I'm not sure how extensive Wiley or Becker's updates for those changes have been.

    FAR 4/1/11 - 89
    AUD 4/15/11 - 85
    REG 4/29/11 - 80
    BEC 5/13/11 - 85
