How much accounting knowledge should I have to start the Becker Review?

I finished my accounting degree 4 years ago. I am considering buying the Becker review and studying while I work full-time. Does Becker start you from “scratch” in the review process for the 4 different subjects? My fear is that the Becker review starts off well for someone that is fresh out of college, but maybe not for someone that needs a refresher from 4 years ago, and unfortunately my job experiences haven’t been much help either. I think I would remember alot, but I don’t want to be dissapointed and find out I needed to know more off the bat, then I do right now for Becker review. Any thoughts from people that have used Becker review?

I didn't get serious about this exam until 10 years after college. I exclusively used Becker and they walk you through like you have forgotten everything prior. Good luck!

    AUD - 51, 80
    REG - 84
    FAR - 15, 29, 55, 80
    BEC - 65, 72, 69, 76 (expired), 83

IMHO, Becker does great job covering all sections especially AUD and REG's Bus. Law. These areas are covered basically from scratch. The only thing that many including myself do not follow per Becker's suggestion is their schedule: two sections per week, and 2 weeks for final review. It takes more time than that if candidate works or has a lot of other responsibilities.

Disclaimer: Not sure about BEC since had not reviewed it yet.

I graduated in 2005 and am just now getting back into the swing of things for the CPA. So far, FAR has been pretty “basic” on what they teach you and how to build upon it. However, I'm still considering singing up for an Intermediate class at a local college and taking it next fall as a general overall “review” before I hit FAR hard.

I also agree about the 2 chapters per week schedule- it's a LOT to cram in there if you work full time. 4-5 hours a night doesn't sound like much on paper, but when you get down to it it's hard to keep focused and learning that long.

    REG - ('11) 71, ('12) 71 - Becker
    AUD - TBD
    BEC - TBD
    FAR - ('16) 54 - Becker
