    Becker Question –

Following the NINJA method and I am not even 1/2 way through the lectures so I am starting to get a bit worried. My NTS expires so Feb. 27th is the only day I can take it.

    BEC: 73, 81
    AUD: 85
    FAR: 71, 77
    REG: 74, 75...finally DONE! 😀

*This is my 2nd attempt at the CPA exam. For all of you who have failed this exam many times, given up on it, or taken a break like me, remember that it is still possible to finish what you started...failure is the opportunity to begin again more intelligently 🙂

With 25 days left till exam, I'd say start practicing MCQs ASAP! At least make sure you cover the most important topics – with the most amount of questions.

    FAR: 81 (May 2013)
    BEC: 81 (July 2013)
    REG: 83 (August 2013)
    AUD: 82 (November 2013)
    California CPA since 1/30/14

I will probably do what I have done in the past for my other tests when I am short on time and calculate 70-80% of the questions in each section and do that # of MCQs only. Then , when I do the final review, I make sure I start with the questions I have not answered.

    FAR: 71, 77
    REG: 74, 75...finally DONE! 😀

Amay, I passed FAR with just 5 and a half weeks of studying. I skipped lectures at the beginning and I only watched lectures on the big spots, like Pensions, bonds, leases, Stmt cash flows, Gov, and any other area's that were my weak spots.

    This is what I did:

#1 Wrote out the NINJA notes in a separate notebook, leaving spaces in between each section to add to it – 4 days

#2 I separated out my notebook into 4 sections, then I did 1 section a week in MCQ's in the WTB, each questions I got wrong I wrote the explanation to why it was wrong in my notes- 4 weeks

#3 Review week – I took the week off of work, and crammed. Watched video's in the sections that I got less than 50% in – 1 week

#4 Last 2 days, I took 10 MCQ practice sets in MCQ to keep them fresh.

#5 Last day – No MCQ's, I wrote out 1 page, front and back of tricks and things that help me remember certain things, I looked through any questions that I missed more than 2-3 times.

#6 Exam day, I read my 1 page “cliff notes” all morning and right before my exam

I read my notebooks EVERYDAY, I can't stress this enough. My notebooks went everywhere with me. Keeping the information fresh is very important for FAR.

I didn't get through every section, but I didn't worry about it, I kept moving forward on my schedule regardless of whether I “mastered it” or not.

Aww Jennifer!! I remember you! We were on the same FAR schedule in November but then I t̶o̶o̶k̶ ̶a̶ ̶b̶r̶e̶a̶k̶ wimped out and rescheduled until the point where my NTS is now expiring. 🙁 Let this be a lesson to anyone reading this!

Congratulations again and thank you so much for the advice! I really do appreciate it and need it with only 20 days left for my exam. All I have done is go through the lectures and take notes. Right now I am about 1/3 done with the Leases chapter (5 out of 10). I need an INTERVENTION. I need to get to MCQs ASAP.

I have 20 days to test and I am just not starting MCQs. I skipped the lectures, read 1/2 of the book, printed the slides for all the lectures and have gone slide by slide incorporating those notes into my Ninja Notes. I'm listening to the audio every chance I get and I will start rewriting notes tomorrow and taking MCQs when my hand starts to hurt. You have time to get through at least 1,000 MCQs between now and test time. You can do this!!!

Thanks! Looks like we are on very similar journeys…half way there!

I should have followed my instinct and started with the government and NFP lectures first because those are my weakest topics. When I took the test in 2011 I completely skipped those sections and got a 67. I didn't even know back then that those 2 sections are 20% of your exam. Shows how clueless I was! Not sure whether I should just watch the government lecture (I have a tiny bit of NFP auditing experience now) and jump straight into MCQs.
