    Becker Question –

I have a pretty rare opportunity where I start a new job in 2 months.

I’ve been thinking that it might be a good idea to resign from my current job as soon as possible and focus on completing both the AUD and BEC portion of the CPA before I start my new job. That way, I can pour all my energy into the new job as opposed to dividing it into daily work into evening/night studying.

So how days/weeks would you guys say is enough to prepare myself for AUD/BEC? Clearly, I would commit as many hours out of the day as possible, but I’m curious as to if there are any people who have successfully done this would have to say.

    FAR: 50, 76!
REG: 74... (ouch baby, very ouch), 76!
    AUD: 65, 91!?
    BEC: 80! Aaaand doneskies!

    May 2012 to August 2013. Can't believe it's over.

I've been doing something similar and here's what I've found out.

First, I would suggest taking REG and BEC while you're out of work, not Audit. Audit isn't nearly as complicated as the other two, and had I not encountered two AUD SIMS that were FAR based that I left blank, I would have done somewhere in the 90s. I took AUD while working and it wasn't too bad. It's a test on one whole concept, as opposed to BEC/REG which is like a million different concepts that are easy to forget.

Take one month for REG, one month for BEC. I would say get 2 chapters done a week, and leave a whole week to review. Don't base it on hours per day or anything, just how long it takes to get the work done. Sometimes you'll go over say 8 hours, sometimes you'll be well under.

The mistake I made was I quit my job to finish REG and FAR. Put aside two months to study for FAR and it was a waste. You won't remember the stuff you learned in month 1 by the time you're in month 2.

A piece of advice would be to use the Wiley Test bank, especially for BEC. Becker doesn't have a great grasp on BEC for some reason, and the first time I took it I saw questions on there Becker never prepared me for. I used the test bank the second time, and my score shot up 10 points.

    @Banks:

Well, I'm actually scheduled to take REG in a week! So I'll essentially have all of March and most of April before I start my new job.

Do you think it's possible to study and pass both AUD/BEC within that timespan?

    FAR: 50, 76!
REG: 74... (ouch baby, very ouch), 76!
    AUD: 65, 91!?
    BEC: 80! Aaaand doneskies!

I just started a new job and I'm “working” (meaning I'm at work but they never give me anything to do because they're finishing up 2012 stuff) so I have been studying all day at work for the last 3 weeks. I started REG probably 3.5 weeks ago and was going pretty slow, probably doing a chapter every other day) and I'm using Rogers which has 23 chapters. Last Monday, I decided to move my test from April 6 to Feb 28th and I was less than halfway through the book and now I'm almost done with the book. I would say, if you're dedicated you can do REG in three weeks, if you're studying 8 hours a day, including the weekends.

AUD: PASSED [81]; Expired, retaking August 23rd
BEC: PASSED [83]; Expired, retaking July 11th
    REG: PASSED [83]
FAR: FAILED [64]; Retaking May 23rd

So yes, it is definitely possible to do AUD or BEC in three weeks, easily if you study the same way

AUD: PASSED [81]; Expired, retaking August 23rd
BEC: PASSED [83]; Expired, retaking July 11th
    REG: PASSED [83]
FAR: FAILED [64]; Retaking May 23rd

I just found out I passed BEC and I literally spent 2 weeks studying for it. I didnt study full time either, maybe a few hours a day. I used Becker and instead of listening to the lectures I read chapters then did MCQs. Did lots of progress tests and did not practice the simulations. I just listened to the lecture about the writing part. If I did it in 2 weeks, and you have off that much you can totally do it!!! For Audit, it took me only 3 weeks also! Good luck w everything!!!
