Just took my first practice final exam in Becker for REG and finished in 1 hour and 20 minutes. Got the following scores.

Testlet 1 – 79

Testlet 2 – 91

Testlet 3 – 83

Testlet 4 Sims

Medical Deductions Tab – 50

Casualty Loss Tab – 60

Tax Treatments 1 – 90

Tax Treatments 2 – 100

Research – 100

Tax Issues – 78

My question is this: how did everyone feel about these practice exams? Are the Becker MCQs harder than the real exam but the sims are easier than the real exam? This is how I felt about FAR but was curious if REG was the same way. I will be reviewing all the questions on this practice final then doing the 2nd practice final on tuesday then taking the exam on Friday.

I scored MUCH lower than you on my Becker REG practice exam and passed the actual exam easily. I think you are going to be fine.

Hmm, no real advice in particular – how are you doing on the practice final exams for FAR? I did worse on the FAR practice final exams than I did on the REG practice final exam and ended up with a 91 on the real exam.

Sounds like you are ready. Great scores. I try to avoid Becker Final too close to exam day. I find the finals to be way harder than the exam and a bit of a confidence crusher!

@CashEquivalents, I don't do Becker's final exams anymore. I don't have any advice on REG because I took it many months and other tests ago. It was the first test I took and all I do remember is BOMBING the Becker final exam and then passing the actual exam with ease. Also, it's easier than FAR. FAR sucks, I'm struggling with it, and I take it on Friday.

so does anyone else have any tips for me before i take the test on friday? I'm not letting those scores get me overconfident, and I am taking the 2nd practice test tomorrow. However, other than reviewing my notes, I don't know of anything else I can do.

I got 82% of everything right the first time through on the first Becker test, 87.5% on the second. Then just last week after having gone through Becker for the second time got 99% and 93% of everything respectively, took REG this morning and I couldn't believe how detailed every question was. I have been angry all day, just praying I total 75. I'd try to look at detail in the Becker book

I averaged around 75 on both of the REG practice tests in terms of overall percentage correct. I passed the actual exam with an 81. In my opinion the actual exam questions were harder but I guess with the “curve” and test questions on the actual exam, it works in your favor. In my opinion, if you are getting those scores, you're ready for the exam. I actually moved my exam forward 1 week because I didn't think that there was much else that I could force into my brain and I'm glad that I did. Confidence my friend, you'll be fine.

Just took the 2nd practice exam and did about the same as the first. I don't know what else I can do. I guess it's all in God's hands now.

My friend took REG and she felt like the multiple choice was easier than the becker questions but the simulations were a lot more comprehensive and harder. That's also how I felt when I recently took FAR

Glad that others find these things dreadful.

The first practice test I averaged about a 70% on everything. Just took the second one and scored:

Testlet 1: 83%

Testlet 2: 71% ugh.

Testlet 3: 83%

“Basis” Tab: 100%

“Partners Distributed Share” Tab: 100%

“Schedule K-1” Tab: 100%

“Schedule K-1 S-Corp” Tab: 100%

“Form 1040 Line items” Tab: 40% – OUCH!

Research tab: 100% (Practice exam 1, I didn't get the answer… so I was relieved when I found this one!)

I'm not getting too excited by those scores for the SIMS… all of the questions were on virtually the same topic (does this ever actually happen on the exam?) and it's one that I happen to be good at.

I take the exam on Wednesday, so I guess I'll keep reviewing and practicing! I just know the SIMS will be devastatingly hard… so the quicker I can get through MCQ the better!

Definitely make sure you leave plenty of time for the REG SIMS!!! I would say try to leave at least 1 hour 30 minutes for SIMS. I am a pretty quick test taker and it took me a while to get through the SIMS on REG for sure.
