    Becker Question –

Just wanted to know if there was anyone else out there struggling with FAR.

The homeworks take me a very very long time to complete. Some questions can take up to 4 minutes if theyre longer computation type questions. Additionally besides the length of time it takes, (50 questions can take me an hour and a half or longer depending on question difficulty)

I am getting between 50% and 80% on the easier chapters like 1 and 4

but for chapters 2 and 3, I had an average on the homeworks of 50%. some of the subchapter section homeworks I had a 32% and a 29% (yes there were 70%s and 60%s too I guess to balance it out but still)

The hardest part is that theres so much stuff that I end up forgetting it soon thereafter.

I just took a progress test of 20 questions and got a 40% (chapter 1-4)

I don’t know how to feel right now. Feeling down.

Chapterts 5-7 are supposed to be very tough as well from what I’ve heard…

Don’t know what else to say

Chapters 2 and 3 are the hardest chapters. I was making bad scores on those too and passed with an 80. If you get caught up worrying then you won't be able to focus.

I agree that Chapter 2 and 3 were the toughest for me. I thought governmental and NFP were easiest. Bonds and pensions take time to click, but once you get it, it's understandable.

I thought FAR was the most relative and logical test of the 4. Once you get FAR, you get it. It just takes time to go over it multiple times and review it all.

    BEC - 80
    AUD - 85
    FAR - 76
    REG - 75

Write as many notes as you can, particularly with computations that you are having difficult remembering. List the basic steps on flash cards. Review the process over and over until you got it – then move on. BUT……..don't stay with a chapter so long that you get bogged down with it either. There is a balance between working it long enough to feel like you have a good handle on it, and working it until you know it backwards, forwards, and inside out (that is TOO long). You must keep moving in order to get through all the material, then save several weeks to review it all a second and possible third time to help it all gel.

FAR was my first exam and I was quite frustrated having to go through so much information each week. I was in a class that required us to do one chapter per week and do all MCQ's until they were correct, and do all SIMS as well. I never felt really solid about stuff before having to move on and that frustrated me to no end. It wasn't until I got to review time that I realized that it had to be done that way or I'd never make it through. Once you get through everything once, then is the time to solidify everything by doing lots of MCQ's and rewriting notes. It gets easier the 2nd time through, and more and more gets stuck in that memory over review time. It's not called “The Beast” for nothing!

    FAR - 92 (4/27/12)
    AUD - 96 (7/17/12)
    BEC - 92 (8/30/12)
    REG - 91 (11/12/12)
