I’m just getting into my BEC studies, and really like to hear opinions on hardest Becker chapters so I have an idea of what to expect. I’m happy to see that there are only 6 chapters compared to FARs 10. Any opinions that anyone has would be greatly appreciated! Thanks.

I'm slowwwwlllyyyy getting thru chapter 1 and finding it so boring and miserable.

    A - 75
    B - 78 God is good.
    F - 77 Answered prayers.
    R - 84! Done!!

Paperwork sent - waiting for license!!
Still on a cloud and in shock. Through God, all things will happen.

I'm on budget variances (2nd half of B2) and am happy to hear that some people find this to be the hardest material. I haven't really went through most of the questions yet, but the lecture seemed foreign to me.

I'm working on the last chapter now, and I'd say that IT was the hardest for me. I don't think it's particularly hard as far as IT goes, but for me it was a lot of terminology I'd never heard of. I personally enjoyed some of the cost accounting stuff, but it was very difficult to learn if you haven't seen it in a while (end of chapter 1 and all of chapter 2). It's very math intensive. Everything else was a breeze – corporate finance, econ, and the random stuff in chapter 6 – all a piece of cake.

Alright I gotta be honest… I'm REALLY not getting budget variances. I'm just going to move on and hope for the best.

Becker does not do a good job at all with its variance discussions, especially when it comes to overhead (ie. one/two/three way variances). I also did not enjoy the new instructor they brought in for the IT course work. It's mind numbing information, but you have to know it inside and out. The IT questions I had on my exam were extremely detailed. Best of luck.

I use Roger rather than Becker but I agree that the IT section can be difficult to study regardless of the review materials you're using. Make sure you thoroughly know your IT!

I user Yaeger instead of Becker and I really had an issue with the variance analysis section at first. My solution was to drill the MCQs and listen to the Ninja audio everyday. I made sure I was pretty much a pro of that section because in my experience, if I skipped over a section or only took it lightly, I would FOR SURE see that topic on exam day lol.

    FAR: 65, 77!
    AUD: 72, 72, 80!
    REG: 64, 84!
    BEC: 83!
    Ethics: 98!
