For those using Becker and WTB

I just purchased the WTB for FAR today and noticed some questions appeared in both, ditto! I hope it’s not a lot of questions otherwise it’ll be a waste of $$. Anyways, I am putting a study plan together so those using Becker and WTB can chime in. I start with the Becker questions (chapter by chapter) and cover all topics in that chapter and redo them till I get all correct. Then I attempt the questions on WTB. My challenge is that the way WTB has outlined its topics is different then Becker. How do I get to pick only questions that are matching to the topics from Becker chapter 1 for instance?

Let me know if this is feasible or if there’s a better way to tackle this.

    Thanks!

At the beginning of FAR, I printed a screen shot of all of the Wiley TB topics. I then went through and listed the Becker section that applied next to the Wiley topic and just worked through them that way.

It didn't match up 100% but it was close enough. Someone else may have a cleaner method but that worked fine for me. I pretty much used Wiley exclusively for progress tests for my final review.

Thanks! Yeah, that approach looks reasonable. I'll also use WTB as a supplement and for final review. Also thinking about NINJA Audio now…

I think the best way to tackle it is to use Becker questions first until it gets you through all the sections and then use Wiley for final review. By then you will have a good foundation and you should have no problem understanding what each Wiley section is. If it is your plan to go through every related Becker and Wiley question for each chapter before moving on you risk running out of time and/or rushing on your later chapters. Moreover you will learn better if you review later chapters sooner and end up with more time to review all chapters.

I am probably going to do Wiley test questions this week, but will tell you that the Becker questions alone have made me feel very confident on many of the chapters materials. I would also say that in the beginning you will spend a lot more time than two minutes on a lot of problems and think that if you are working you would be lucky to finish more than two chapters a week by doing just the Becker problems.

I spoke to an ancient wise man who sent me on a mushroom induced journey through an ancient forest to find the key to passing the CPA exam. A talking spider monkey told me to throw the last of my drinking water in the dirt to find what I was looking for. So I followed his instructions and the following message appeared in the soil:

"Do 5000 multiple choice questions for each section"

StudyMonk – Thanks for your input. I hadn't thought about running out of time but it makes sense now. I'd stick to Becker MCQ's and taking notes for now and in the last couple of weeks, review all the notes and hammer the WTB MCQ's. I am scheduling my exam for first week of April so be doing a chapter a week. I just hope I don't start forgetting material towards the end!

Cracked your definitely going to want to keep going back to the material you already studied. Your study schedule should look something like this:

    Week 1 CH1

    Week 2 CH2 review Ch1

    Week 3 CH3 review Ch1 and Ch2

    Week 4 CH4 review Ch 1,2, and 3

    etc.

There is so much material so that is the only way you will be able to keep it together. As time goes by and you transfer more of the earlier chapters into long term memory you won't need to review them as frequently. The constant review is another reason why time becomes an issue, but it is a much needed step.
