    Hello everyone!

I have the AUD section on November 30th and I am just starting to study today using Becker… for all those curretntly studying or passed AUD with Becker, how helpful did you find the lectures?? I am wondering if I should skip them granted I have limited time to prepare. What do you guys think? Also, any helpful tips on how to organize my studying for this section would be greatly appreciated! So far, I have read good reviews on people using Becker to prepare for AUD

    Thanks!

I took auditing and please do not skip the lectures. The lectures saved me more than years of schooling in this topic. They are good with simplifying auditing. Especially the overall process; however, you may need the lecture for sampling along with other sources – they do not cover this in depth or give opportunities to work hands on. Just an overview.

I watched the lectures once, but you have to read the book!! For me, reading helped a lot more than just highlighting or having Tim read me the book. Lectures are helpful when Tim explains it rather than just reading it.

    Good Luck!

The lectures are extremely long, and I find some parts of them helpful and some parts of them just annoying. I did think that the A1 and A2 were EXTREMELY similar in content, but A2 seemed to be more detailed. I think skipping A1 would probably be fine, but you might wanna watch the rest. :-/

@hopeful and @Yvonne Thanks for the input! The only reason I am thinking about skipping the lectures is because I see no value in Tim reading the book to me and telling me exactly what to highlight..not to mention I highly despise his monotonous tone and bad jokes. I was very good at my auditing class in college and I am an auditor now so I am hoping that helps! I learn better on my own buy reading the book, taking notes, and doing MCQs

It's your choice; however, I highly recommend the lectures. If you find your scores fairly low on MCQs after your approach, please go back to listen to at least the areas you are struggling in. Also, you have to go through the lectures to get the “promise”.

If you finish all the homework assignments and lectures, you submit the final to beckerpromise contact – after you completed the entire section. They review and give you a promise of 1 year free tuition – good fallback if you don't pass and have to retake.

Under no circumstances would I recommend not listening to the lectures. Yes, Tim G has bad jokes but they are tolerable. I have listened to that whole AUD course and Tim G twice. The first time I took AUD I made a 62 and the second time I took AUD I made a 78.

Good Luck on November 30th! That's my birthday.

If I had to do it again I would say yes listen for AUD but ignore for REG (at least Tim's sections).

@Yvonne I went through the entire Becker AUD course again. I listened to all of the lectures, did all of the MC's twice, all of the sims twice, outlined all of the chapters and then there is my voice recorder recommendation. I recorded all of the Becker note cards, all mnemonics, all formulas, ALL of the different types of opinions, reviews, compilation reports, etc. I can't tell you how valuable I feel like this was. I would listen to the recordings getting ready for work, at work, walking the dog etc. I think I had about eight hours of stuff recorded. I went to Florida back in July before I took the exam and listened to my recordings all the way driving there and back. Repetition is the key. I also completed the Becker Final Review. Oh, one other thing I do is make up tests for myself. For example, I have master listings for formulas and mnemonics. From these I make up blank sheets to test myself. For example, I will have a line for a mnemonic that says “TIP”. I will fill in the blanks. Make sense? Currently I have 55 pages of tests made up for REG studying. I take REG November 19 and BEC November 28.

I am currently studying for REG and BEC and following the same method. I missed BEC by four points last testing window.

    Hope that helps!! Good luck!

Well, I agree, everyone has a different learning style. However, for the Becker promise, they require the lecture completion. It doesn't hurt; however, what helped me was to write the reports. For some reason, reading reports to remember did not work. So I started typing each report by opinion. Which really helped.

Btw, i'm studying REG now also. Talk about sleep inducing. Good stuff before bed.

@Yvonne, How was your AUD exam?

I'm re-doing all MCQ/SIMs in passmaster and FR.

I'm also doing the final exam.

I might not have time to do wiley's MCQs or at least ALL of them. I'm hoping to do all the SIMS though.

Do you think it's possible to pass w/o Wiley test bank?

I think you will be okay. Your last exam was 73, which is pretty close. I didn't finish Wiley. It's more practice; however, Becker is good with bringing out all the key areas.
