Just a quick question, how would you compare the Becker Final Exam for BEC vs. the actual? Is it harder, easier, can it be compared at all? Would you say Becker prepared you well?

    Thanks

@PistolPete – I had a horrible BEC experience but Liliana at the Dallas final review for Becker was awesome. I'm not kidding. Best money I've ever spent. She gives you the final review book but also provides a couple of her own handout packets. At the end of the class, she says “don't go back to the becker book again before your exam.” She's right, I did exactly what she said, re-worked her questions and passed with an 81! My scores were all in the high 60's prior to the course. BEC was just difficult for me, I was about to give up on the whole exam after failing it three times. I was so excited to finally pass it.

You might be able to ask who is teaching the course when you call to sign up. If not, tell me the dates you are interested in and I will email Liliana for you to see if she will be teaching.

    FAR - 79 (2x)
    AUD - 81 (expired), 77!
    REG - 74! omg (3x) 87!!!!!!! I'm done! OMG!
    BEC - 81 (4x)

Thank you very much guys. The reason I am asking is because people keep saying how horrible their BEC experience was and many of them are Becker candidates. They have been saying that Becker does not prepare you well at all and that many many questions came out of left field…

@Peanut – Thanks I appreciate it. I have not taken the simulated exam yet. On ch 4 right now and sitting for the exam on Feb 24th. I will do my final review for about 5 days leading up to exam day and am planning on taking the simulated exam then. Im hoping that the simulated exam is harder than actual as was the case for REG, FAR, and AUD if you studied with Becker.

I used Becker and passed but it took me 2 tries. I am not going to lie. I walked out feeling like I made a 50. I think that is why people hate that section so much. It is the hardest to gauge. If you study hard and really understand the concepts, not just memorize formulas, I think you will be fine. I will press upon you to buy the Ninja notes. They helped me on the IT section a ton! There were several questions where I was thinking, “Ok this was covered in the ninja notes, what did jeff say?” and then I would remember the goofy picture or analogy he used and remember the answer. His notes also fill in the blanks for all the “ancillary” material. Good luck!!

I had to rush through Becker in 5 weeks in order to sit a tthe end of a window and the material worked well for me. If i remember correctly i dont think I was ever above an 80 on any of the practice or simulated exams.

    AUDIT 7/29/11 - 87
    REG 10/7/11 - 86
    BEC 11/24/11 - 85
    FAR 2/24/12 - ???

my experience with Becker is that every exam (the practice exams) are more difficult than the real exam. Except with BEC.

I personally think BEC real exam is more difficult than Becker.

@ Certified.. How much harder was the real exam that the Becker exam? and what is the best way to combat that?

    Thanks

I found the first Becker exam for BEC to be relatively easy but the second was pretty difficult. Although I haven't received my score yet, I felt the actual exam was easier than both of the Becker final exams although I did have some random/poorly worded theory questions that I had no idea on. The calculations were not nearly as complex as some of the Becker questions.

    BEC - Feb 2012: 80
    AUD - Feb 2012: 84
    FAR - Apr 2012: 78
    REG - May 2012: 90

    Thanks Becker!

I have BEC on 2/28 and am through 5 of 6 chapters of Becker. I still feel like I am not understanding the material well enough. I've done the MC at least twice for each chapter. Has anyone used the Wiley test bank? It really helped me with Audit… has anyone used it for BEC?

    @Bsherry

I have only 5 chapters in my Becker book, why so?? and whats is 6th chapter, how can i prepare for that?

@CPA soon… Becker added a new chapter to every section for the 2012 version (BEC has 6, AUD has 6, FAR has 10, and REG has 8). I think it has almost the same material but it is just separated differently. B-6 in the 2012 materials covers operations management, globalization, financial risk management, financial decisions, financial valuation, and internal auditing standards.

    BEC - Feb 2012: 80
    AUD - Feb 2012: 84
    FAR - Apr 2012: 78
    REG - May 2012: 90

    Thanks Becker!
