Becker Question –

Hello everyone,

I’ve been reading posts for a while but this is my first one.

I’ll be taking FAR on 11/25. I haven’t reviewed chapter 10 yet, should I invest a lot of time in it? Or go through it pretty quick?

someone from the thread I forgot the name advised not to skip anything. the exam is well-rounded and we never know what would be the test. Mine is on 11/21st.

Agree with Future Ninja, I didn't pass FAR previously with a 74 and everything is fair game. You never know if 1 or 2 questions from Chapter 10 will determine if you get a 74 or a 75

Like everyone says, everything is fair game. HOWEVER, if you feel like you are running out of time, I would at least go over the Fair Value, Partnership, and Financial Instruments portion. For sure the Fair Value and Partnership stuff, I had a few questions on those topics on my exam a few weeks ago.

@602Kid – do we get the same set of exam as yours? I thought we all have different sets, as they always say whether testlets will get harder or not.

Thanks a lot everyone, for the input. My time is running short and i might just take the advice about partially going over chapter 10.

@CPAlmost Which review course did you use for the past exam? I'm positive that next time you take FAR, you'll pass :).

@602Kid You're on a killing spree on the exams :O. Any advice on how to study for the final two weeks of FAR?

I had a couple questions from chapter 10 on my last FAR exam. I wouldn't skip the chapter. I would at least go through it once and do some multiple choice to get an idea. I would focus more on chapters 8 and 9. That's 16-24% of the exam right there. GUARANTEED.

@apj256 – I'm using Becker, but I didn't cover each chapter thoroughly enough.

@Rocky123 Right now I'm still reviewing chapters 8-9. I've been reading on here how a lot of people overlook it. Any advice on the final 2 weeks of studying before the exam?

@CPAlmost With your past experience with FAR, what would have you done (or doing) different to pass?

I would make sure you have gone over everything at least once. I will often review a chapter multiple times and pick up on something I hadn't noticed before.

I'm focusing on govt and nfp right now and doing progress tests on each chapter to keep things fresh. It's so easy to forget a simple concept over time.

The only thing I don't like about Becker progress tests, is that you don't get immediate results. You have to finish all of the questions first. I like immediate feedback. Plus, it's a pain to go back and review all of the questions.

Above all, don't panic! (which I am doing at the moment). It's counterproductive.

@FutureNinja – correct, everyone gets different testlets. But if short on time I just suggested going over the parts in F10 that take up the most of the chapter (Fair Value, Partnership, Financial Instruments). As far as the simulations, expect the unexpected! I felt really comfortable with the MC portion of the exam, however, maybe I just got unlucky, but my FAR sims were killer! I ran out of time at the end and filled in about 2 of them just so I wouldnt leave them blank. The far sims on becker are easier than the ones I had on my exam (didnt use ninja) So practice sims as much as you can!

@apj256 I do have some important advice for your FAR final Review. GOVERNMENT/NFP ACCOUNTING!!!! I only had about one week of final review for FAR so I didnt have a chance to re-do ALL of the hw questions on becker. But I did however re-do all the hw questions for F8 & F9 (Gov./NFP) and I suggest you do the same. You need to be comfortable with the gov./NFP material. This is a big part of the exam, and you will see a lot of questions on this.
