    Becker Question –

    Hey Everyone,

I did see some of these posts a while back like 2011 and early 2012 so was wondering if some current members who have somewhat recently taken FAR think of my results. I did the 40% allocation to MCQ and 60% to my sims and scored a 66. On the MCQ I got a 67 for each testlet, 10 wrong, such irony. Just kind of wondering what others may have scored when they took their first final exam, what they did on their 2nd test/study ideas, and how they did on the actual FAR exam. I feel decent about the first test score, but I obviously don’t want to miss that 75 at all and have a week before my exam to study like a mad man lol. Any personal stories and advice is more than welcome!

    FAR 66 (07/01/13), 75! (10/01/13)
    AUD 64 (08/12/13), 80! (11/23/13)
    BEC 84! (05/22/14)
    REG 77! (08/28/14)
    DONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Your allocation is off. 60% = MCQ, 40% = SIM.

You have a little more than a week left until your exam? Work on MCQ until your brain goes dead. I did Becker, and would take progress tests of 90 MCQ over and over and over. I would also track your results by Chapter so you can see a trend of which chapters need improvement and which dont. Treat those 90 MCQ progress tests as the real deal, where you don't take extended breaks, and you should see an improvement to your scores.

I was consistently scoring low 70% on the 90 MCQ progress tests, and so I narrowed in on the Chapters that were causing the score to be low, and that helped me get the passing grade on the real thing.

Thanks, yeah I wrote the allocation wrong, but did it right when I was getting my score lol. Ive been doing the progress reports and see where my issues are. I am hoping to do more problems and get those percentages up. I have a week until my exam, but am studying the rest of the weekend and every day next week. I work 2 days a week so won't have as much time on those days, but the others I do a 200+ questions and flash cards. Hoping this works…

I got an 87 on my first practice exam, a 90 on my second one, and a 96 on my actual exam. Generally, you can expect to score about 10 points higher (give or take a couple) on your actual exam than you did on the Becker practice exams.

Good idea on working lots of practice questions! For me personally, I feel that I'm ready when I can do 50 practice questions in 30 minutes or less and score a 90% or better for each chapter. Helps me prepare for the time crunch during the exam and also lets me know when I have the material down pat.

    Good luck on your studying!

I got an 82 on my practice exam and a 92 on the real exam. I would agree that most people get 10 points higher on the real thing. My friend had around the same results as you on his practice exam and got an 82 on the real thing.

You still have over a week to practice your MCQ and cover your weak areas. Also, don't neglect reading through the book at least one time. I felt like the real exam was more conceptual than I anticipated. Good luck!

I think my actual score was around 5% higher than my practice exam scores. To play it safe, I would not go into the exam expecting your score to be higher. The more you plan ahead of time, the less freaked out you'll be. I will say, I thought the actual exam was WAY WAY WAY harder than the practice exams… it just happened that I scored higher. Maybe I was more focused, or more likely, more scared shitless during the real thing that got me a higher score.

Consider yourself lucky that you only have 2 work days this coming week. Use each day wisely, and if you plan on doing my system of 90 MCQ practice exams (progress tests), try and get in at least 3 a day making sure that you carefully review each one to see why you missed the problems you missed.

Also, I found that on Becker, the questions began getting repetitive. If you have an extra $30 to spare, I'd recommend purchasing an additional practice exam by Gleim. This will make sure you are seeing new types of questions, and should help you better be prepared.

Best of luck! Just remember – FAR is a beast, but you are a bigger beast and you will devour FAR.

you should be fine. I don't even finish Becker final exam one for SIMs, I only did those 3 testlet for MCQ. I scored 80,67,75, on my real exam, I got 85. So i totally agree that you will get 10 points higher on your real exam than Becker

I scored about 10-15% higher than the Becker Final Exams for the 3 sections I've taken so far. Don't worry about your score too much, just try and learn a few things from the questions you missed.
